There was a man named Hakim who lived in a small house by a lake named Apple Lake. On the night of his birthday, Hakim went to a nice restaurant for dinner. He had a delicious dinner and he really enjoyed the chilli bread that was served with the chicken soup.
The next day, when Hakim was baking a loaf of bread, he decided to add ten tea spoons of red-hot chilli flakes to his bread dough because he wanted a very hot chilli bread. When it was done, he took it out from the oven and the aroma of the freshly baked bread filled his kitchen as he put the hot bread on his kitchen table.
He cut a slice of the bread and popped it into his mouth. His face suddenly turned red and he ran around his kitchen searching for his apple juice. He poured it into a glass, spilling half of the juice on the floor. He drank the apple juice as fast as he could. Then he poured another glass and drank the juice until he felt better.
He looked at the bread, wondering what to do with it. He walked out of the kitchen and stumbled upon some button mushrooms in his backyard garden. He looked at the mushrooms and suddenly he got an idea. He could cook some mushroom soup so that he could eat it with the hot bread and reduce the spiciness of the bread.
He searched his cookbooks for a nice mushroom soup recipe. Then he found the one that he liked. He was so excited and he went to a grocery store to buy the ingredients for his mushroom soup.
As soon as he was back home, he prepared all the ingredients and started to cook the soup. After an hour, he put the pot full of the freshly cooked mushroom soup on the dining table and added some fresh black pepper to the soup. He poured the soup into a bowl and tasted it. It was very, very tasty with chunky pieces of tasty mushrooms floating in the soup.
Then he took out a knife and sliced the chilli bread. He dipped it into the tasty mushroom soup, but again, his face turned red. The bread was still too hot even when he ate it together with the mushroom soup. Once again, he went around searching for his apple juice.
After he felt better, he thought hard about what should he do with the bread. Then he heard the sound of cats fighting outside his house. An idea struck in his mind and he took a piece of the bread. He went out and called for the cats. He placed the small piece of bread on a white plate and the hungry cats started eating. But then they all ran away for they too could not stand the spiciness of the bread.
So Hakim went back inside, thinking of what should he do. Then his phone rang and Hakim quickly ran to answer the phone. It was his old friend from India calling. His friend was in town and Hakim asked him if he would like to come to his house for dinner. Hakim’s friend agreed and told Hakim that he would appreciate something hot and spicy for he really missed the hot and spicy Indian food.
Hakim got an idea, he would serve the hot chilli bread with some tasty soup and some tasty meat pies for dinner.
When his old Indian friend came, he could smell the delicious aroma of the chilli bread heated in the oven and the freshly cooked meat pie from the living room. Hakim served the delicious food and they started their dinner. The Indian man took a slice of the chilli bread and dipped it into his soup. He popped the bread into his mouth and Hakim looked at his friend nervously, wondering if the chilli bread was too hot for him too.
His friend loved the hot chilli bread and told Hakim that it was the tastiest bread that he had ever tasted. Hakim was so happy because his old friend really enjoyed his chilli bread and he finished the whole loaf all by himself.
Hakim told his friend about what happened to him when he ate the hot chilli bread. As the old saying goes, ‘too much of anything is bad for you’. Hakim made a conclusion that even though he loved a hotter chilli bread than the ones he ate at the restaurant, he must not add too much chili flakes to his bread because it will be too hot for him.
There was a little boy whose name was Tommy Brown. He lived in a village not far from a town.
One windy day the little boy was walking down a lane, holding a stick in his small hand. He did not know that it was a magical stick, for he found it laying on the sand. He took it home and wrote his name on it, to that mark the stick was his. Then as he was waving it around, it slip off his hand and flew towards the west.
A small blue bird was flying towards the south, to go back to its nest. Then suddenly it collided with the stick, and the poor little bird fell into a nest. It thought the nest was his, but actually it was not.
The magic stick continued its flight, and flew towards the west. Then it flew straight into a tree and got stuck in between the leaves. A big squirrel climbed up the tree, shaking the branches and the stick fell down hitting a cat. The cat attacked the stick till it flew up and caught by a red-breasted robin.
The robin flew high up in the sky, with the stick in its beak. But as it turned left, the stick slipped down towards a park. It fell onto a little boy who was playing on a swing. He looked at the stick, pick it up and started laughing. He then threw it high up and the stick flew away to the other side of the park. Some joggers saw it coming and they kicked the stick before it could land on the park.
The stick again departed on a journey, this time to a small house where lived a family of nine. It fell on the roof but the strong wind blew it up again. It landed on their car that was on the way to a ranch. The car hit a bump and the stick jumped onto a tree branch.
As it landed on the tree, a raven held its claw tightly to the branch, then moving to its nest. The black raven hit the stick and the stick fell onto a hawk that was swooping down for a lunch which was a white mice. The hawk then flew away with the stick on its back, and it took the stick high up to the sky. It flew far, far away over the farms and meadows, to search for another prey.
On a beautiful meadow, there was a farmer with his white and black cows. Then out came a rabbit, and it ran towards the cows. The hawk saw the rabbit, and it swooped to catch its prey. As the hawk jerked, the stick fell down into a big apple tree. The stick fell through the branches and down the big tree.
Down came the stick, until it hit a boy’s head. The boy looked at the stick and saw his name on it! So, the sad little boy had got his stick back. It was the stick that he accidentally let go a few days back.
The happy little boy took the stick home, waving the stick like a little wand. He could never guess how far had the stick went before it got back in his hand. Over the trees, from a village to a town, over the farms and the meadows to get back into his hand.
On one fine autumn day, Mr. Flexi was having a meeting with his contractor, Martin. Martin’s staffs, Lloyd, Doyle, and Peter was also there.
Mr. Flexi showed them the plan of a house that he wanted them to build for him, including the burglar sensors and alarm, fire detector, and other safety alarms.
The next day, they started building the house. They built the foundation, and after that they started to put up the bricks. Then they made the flooring, plastered the walls and painted them.
It took them six month to built the beautiful house. They had installed the celling fans, lightings, the burglar sensors and alarm system, fire detectors, panic buttons, telephone line and other home accessories as ordered by Mr. Flexi.
“Thank you,” said Mr. Flexi. “This house is awesome. Here is the check for the rest of the payment. I am very happy to do business with your company. Please tell Martin that he had done a good job”
Lloyd, Doyle and Peter went to a coffee house to enjoy the afternoon after they had completed building the house. They drank delicious hot coffee and ate scones with jam and fresh cream. Then they went to their office to meet their boss, Martin.
“Hi Martin!” Lloyd said as he went inside Martin’s room.
“We had just met Mr. Flexi and he’s very happy with his new house. Here is the check for the rest of the payment and he said that you have done a good job.”
“Thank you,” said Martin. “How long did we took to complete the house? Six months, right?”
“Yep!” said Lloyd in an excited voice. “Six months. Quite fast for a house of that size.”
“Any more houses we need to build, Martin?” asked Doyle. “We’re all ready to start on a new project. I just can’t wait to start building a new house!”
“Nope,” said Martin. “Not yet at this moment. By the way, how about having tea at my house?”
Peter answered, “I’m not sure about the others but I would love to have tea at your house.”
“We have just had tea at the coffee house in front of our office but it will be wonderful to have tea at your house, as we didn’t ate much at the coffee house,” said Doyle.
“Good,” said Martin. “We’ll have tea at my house now.”
So they all went into Martin’s black car and he drove them to his house. He parked it at the porch and they all came out of the car. Martin’s pet cats ran to greet him and his friends. One of the cat went back to it’s cage to take a letter that arrived that morning.
“Good cat!” said Martin, giving the cat a new toy. It’s just a crumpled small piece of paper that was not needed any more. The cat happily played with it together with the others, rolling it around like a ball, running over each other to play with the new toy.
“Come on!” said Martin, opening the grail of his house.
He opened the door and walked inside, followed by the others. Martin served them some delicious homemade bread with homemade strawberry jam and lots of delicious fresh cream. They drank the hot, mint tea and it was so tasty that Martin had to brew another pot of mint tea for them.
They talked about the house that they built for Mr. Flexi and later about the robbery in front of Keith’s new house that they built before Mr. Flexi’s. Martin was painting Mr. Flexi’s house when he saw the incident happened. It happened so fast and no one knew who the robber was for he wore a mask that covered his whole face with tiny dots at the eyes to let him see where he was going.
After that, they had a dinner at a restaurant near Martin’s house. When they reached the restaurant, a small hungry white kitten with blue eyes went to Martin, pleading for food. Martin stroke the tiny cat and wondering what to give to the poor kitten. He only had some sweets and chewing gums in his pocket and wondered if the cat would like to eat them.
Suddenly the tiny kitten ran away as if it was scared of something. Then Martin saw a man wearing a thick black jacket walking into the restaurant. He looked familiar but Martin could not remember he was.
Martin walked to the table where his friends sat. He looked at the menu and ordered Ceasar Salad, baked salmon and ice-cream. Martin looked around him and saw the man in the thick black jacket sat next to their table. When their order came, Martin and his friends stopped talking and enjoyed their delicious dinner. Martin was enjoying his baked salmon when the man in the thick black jacket walked to their table, took Martin’s bag and ran away.
Martin jumped and ran after the thief with his friends followed by the restaurant’s staffs. Martin, who used to join lots of races and was the three times winner of the annual Boomland Run in a row, could easily caught up with the man.
The thief jumped over a big box and Martin jumped over it too, the thief jumped over a big truck’s tyre and Martin jumped over it too. The thief took a left turn and Martin went after him. And when the thief went right, Martin climbed onto a tall apple tree, jumped down to the other side of the tall wall. He caught the thief and he pushed him down to the ground.
His friends arrived with the police and the police took the thief to the police station. Martin and his friends went to the police station and after giving their statements, a police officer gave Martin his bag.
The next day, the case was on the front page of all the news papers in Boomland. ‘Brave Contractor Caught A Thief’, Martin read the article proudly with his friends in his office. He felt so happy to get his bag back and to help the police solve other robbery cases that were committed by the same man. The man was the masked man who robbed Keith in front of his house, that was why he looked familiar when Martin saw him in front of the restaurant.
Keith was so happy to get back his new laptop that was snatched by the man in front of his house on the day he bought it. So that night he invited Martin and his friends for dinner at their favourite restaurant.
Last summer, Martin was building a big house in a very peaceful town named Boomland for a businessman named Keith. Keith planned to sell the house once it was built.
It was a breezy Saturday and they were almost finished. Martin was on a ladder, painting the porch while singing a nice sentimental song. He was holding a paint bucket in one arm, and trying very hard not to drop it.
A week after it was ready, Keith invited Martin to visit the house. It looked so grand for it is big and it was decorate with nice furniture. There was an old fashioned pond with a tortoise in the garden with beautiful, snow white flowers around it. So, Martin decided to buy the house as it was so beautiful and he planned to grow apple trees around the house.
The next day, when Martin’s staffs, Lloyd, Peter, and Doyle visited his new house, Martin told them about a new house that Keith wanted them to build beside his house. They would start building it on Wednesday and they only had three more days to plan.
Martin said goodbye to his staffs as they left his house. Suddenly he saw a kitten walking to his house. It was a cute little black and white kitten, with beautiful, glowing green eyes.
He looked at it, wondering what should he do. He walked softly to the cat and the cat looked afraid. Martin gently stroked the cat and it purred softly as it knew that Martin was not going to cause any harm.
The kitten’s mother came by. It brushed itself against the gate, looking at Martin. Martin looked softly at the big, black female cat as it walked towards its kitten. He was wondering whether the big cat was ferocious. The big cat came to Martin, purring till Martin could feel its throat vibrating softly. Suddenly it jumped up and ran away.
Martin looked around him, wondering what had scared the big cat. He even looked at the sky but all that he could see was grey puffy clouds which meant that it was going to rain.
Then his phone rang and he answered it, “Hello”.
“Hi Martin!” said the man at the other end. It was his staff, Peter.
“Keith is calling a meeting tomorrow to discuss about the house that we’re going to build. It will be at ten o’clock in the morning.”
“I’ll be there. Thanks for the information!” answered Martin.
He clicked the little red button on his phone and he went inside. The raindrops had started to fall and the little cat had walked away. Suddenly he felt so lonely.
“So, I can’t celebrate my birthday tomorrow,” said Martin to himself in a sad voice. “Oh well, may be I could celebrate it after the meeting.”
He woke up early the next day. He remembered very well that it was his birthday. He wore a plain white shirt and a black jacket which made him look grand. He put on his black neck tie and then he went downstairs.
He took his car keys and drove to his office. He arrived there in just about five minutes. He went inside. The office was dark and he wondered if he was too early. He sat down for a moment, and then he walked to the meeting room to get things ready. He opened the door of the meeting room and saw that everything was ready for the meeting. The projector screen was set and the projector was on the table. The chairs were arranged and the curtains were opened.
He wondered aloud, “Where is everybody?”
As he walked into the meeting room, the lights were switched on and confetti started to fall.
“Happy birthday, Martin!” everyone shouted.
It was a surprise birthday party! Martin was very happy to celebrate his birthday with his friends. The projector was set to play a movie that Martin had always wanted to watch but was too busy to go to the cinema to watch it.
>>> The End <<<
Mr. Luke went inside and brought out a big plate of cookies and a pot of tea.
“Mic, Reen, come and eat these tasty cookies while I call the police. I bought them in London for both of you,” said Mr. Luke.
Reen took a big bite and just as he was about to say something, the police chief arrived followed by six policemen.
“Hello, sir,” said Mr. Luke. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No,” said the police chief. “It’s someone else who did something wrong. We are here to make sure that your doors won’t be stolen.”
“Well, it’s too late, sir. My beautiful front door is already stolen! In fact I was about to go inside and call the police regarding this matter,” said Mr. Luke.
“When did you find out that your door is stolen and did you see anybody suspicious before it happened?” asked the police chief.
“Mic and Reen came here just now to have tea with me and that was when we found out that my front door is gone. By the way, I did not hear anything or see anybody suspicious, sir. Please, I really hope that you can help me to get my door back.”
Mic saw some footprints and took out his notebook to compare them with the ones that they saw at Miss Nyla’s house. And as he had expected, they were the same.
Then he saw something that looked like a piece of purple cloth sticking out from the bushes. He tried to pull it but it was stuck. Mic pulled harder and harder until suddenly it pulled him back towards the bushes. Then the bushes shook and Mic saw something green and purple crawling under the bushes.
“There is something green and purple crawling under the bushes!” shouted Mic.
Everybody was surprised and Reen who was enjoying his third cookie, was almost choked in surprised.
At that moment, a man jumped out from the bushes and pushed Mic to the ground before he ran away. The man jumped over the fence, and ran towards Miss Hong’s house.
“Go after him!” shouted a police chief to his men.
Mic picked himself up and ran to take a piece of cookie before he ran to Miss Hong’s house.
Suddenly, Pete who came running from the opposite side ran into the suspect. They collided and both of them fell to the ground with the tall man on top of Pete.
“Pete! Are you all right?” shouted Mic as the policemen ran to catch the suspect.
The suspect got up, pushed a policeman to the ground and tried to run away. Four other policemen surrounded the suspect and caught him. The suspect was a tall and a very strong man, but the four policemen were too strong for him. The suspect was handcuffed and taken to the police car.
Mic helped Pete up and they both ran to Miss Hong’s house followed Reen who first took a few pieces of cookies before running after Mic and Pete. On the way there, they met Safora.

Pete and Safora ran back to their house as fast as they could. They went inside the house and Pete locked the door. He switched on the lights in the dining room and turned towards his sister.
“What an adventure,” said Pete excitedly. “But it’s a sad thing that we could not get to hear more of their secret plans. Safora, please contact Mic and tell him what happened while I prepare something for us to eat.”
Safora sat on her favourite chair and took out her phone. She sent Mic a message telling him that they were already back home and that he could now go to bed. She also told him that she forgot to silence her phone and that it made a loud beeping sound at the beach.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Pete took out some cheese and bread and prepared some sandwiches for both of them. After eating their delicious supper, they went to bed. They both slept well, dreaming about solving the mystery. In Pete’s dream, he met a big fat giant and the giant shook him until he could not breath. Then he heard a familiar voice calling his name, it was his mother trying to wake him up.
“Pete, wake up! It is already 10 o’clock, ” said her mother.
Pete woke up with a surprise.
“It is already 10 o’clock?” he asked. “How can I be so sleepy and did not hear my alarm clock ringing,” he continued.
“Did you slept well last night?” asked his mother. “Or did you stayed up late?”
Pete got up from his bed and rushed to the bathroom to take a bath. After eating his breakfast, he ran to Mic’s house with Safora. The four of them discussed about what had happened last night.
“I’ve sent the information to the police chief,” said Mic. “He said that he will go to the gang’s headquarters this morning. I think we too should go there and check out the place. How about asking the milkman if we can help him deliver milk at that location? By the way, the milkman is really late today. Normally he comes very early.”
“Good idea,” said Reen. “A very good idea, indeed. I think I should go there with Pete and I could use my blue and green wagon to carry the milk.”
“And here comes the milkman,” said Mic. “Let’s ask him if we can deliver the milk to the headquarters.”
“Hello, Mr. Milkman. Can we help you deliver these milk, please?” asked Reen.
“Well, sure!” answered the milkman. “I am almost done, there are only a few more houses left. And here are the addresses. Just be careful and don’t break the bottles. I shall be at my house, at number 611 on 505 Street. It is just around the corner. You’ll just send me back the crates and there will be rewards for you.”
“Thank you, sir, ” said Pete as he put the crates into Reen’s wagon.
“He is XYZ!” said Pete in a low voice. “That milkman is XYZ! His face, his voice and where he lives! I just can’t believe it. So, he lives at the the thieves’ headquarters. Take notice of each people in the house when we send these crates. Man! I just can’t believe it. If we see Miss Nyla’s door, we’ll call the police chief. Mic and Safora, please call the police chief if Reen and I are not back or if you hear nothing from us after an hour.”
They said good bye and the two boys walked to Miss Nyla’s house, the next house was her German neighbour, Mr. Polst and then to their friend, Neick’s house, After that they delivered the milk to Mr. Raldo’s house and to a few more houses before walking all the way to house number 611 on 505 Street.
“Take notice of their faces and everything inside the house, Reen,” whispered Pete as they walked to the house. When they reached the house, Pete rang the door bell and XYZ opened the door.
“Well, well,” said XYZ with a big grin. “Please come in.”
As soon as they were inside the house, he locked the door and clapped his hands.
“It seems like you have fallen into my trap!” he said.
Then both of them were surrounded by the gang members. They took out a long rope and tied up the boys’ hands and legs.
“Now you are going to be punished for spying on us,” said XYZ.
“I wasn’t spying!” said Reen. “I was sleeping at home. It was Pete who was sp….”
Before Reen could finish his sentence, XYZ covered Reen’s mouth with duct tape and then did the same to Pete. Soon they heard the door bell. As XYZ stood up to open the door, he accidentally dropped his phone.
“Our pizzas are here,” announced XYZ as he brought in a few big boxes of tasty smelling pizzas.
“Stay there and do not try to get away,” shouted a fat, bald man in a fierce voice from the dinning table.
The whole gang sat at the dinning table and started eating their tasty pizzas without realizing that Pete had managed to pick up XYZ’s phone which was on the floor not far from where Pete was tied up. The gang members were talking to each other noisily while enjoying their pizzas. Pete who was familiar with that type of hand phone tried to send a message to Safora.
He could not type properly as he could not see the phone keys for his hands were tied up behind his back, so he could not see the phone keys. At Mic’s house, Mic and Safora were very worried because Pete and Reen were gone for nearly an hour and they still heard nothing from them. Suddenly Safora heard her phone ringing. She took it up and saw a funny message from an unknown phone number.
“Sfor! Its pte hre. i’m kinapd. athq of enmy cll plice? I wonder who sent this weird message,” said Safora.
Mic took the phone and tried to read the message.
“Safora, I think it is from Pete, trying to tell us that he was kidnapped and wants us to call the police.”
Safora quickly called the police chief and told him what happened. The police chief told her not to worry because he had almost reach the house. After that, Safora and Mic rushed to the gang’s headquarters and when they reached the house, they saw the police chief ringing the door bell.
Someone opened the door thinking it was a pizza man as they had ordered more pizzas. The police chief went inside the house followed by a few policemen. Some of the gang members ran outside from the windows and the kitchen door not knowing that the police had already surrounded the house. Anyway one of them managed to escape and ran away toward the woods.

On Wednesday night, Pete and Safora had an early dinner. By half past eight, they had already washed all the plates and cleaned up the dinning table. Their parents were away till the next day and their mother had prepared their meals and put them in the refrigerator for them to heat up.
“All right, we are all done,” said Pete, washing his hands. “We better check our things and get ready to go to the beach. Just think about it, we may be able to hear their plans and every thing they will discuss in their meeting!”
Less than ten minutes later, Pete and Safora arrived at the beach . They hid behind a closed stall as planned. Pete peeked through the top of the stall counter. He took out his micro listener and his night vision glasses and put them on to help him see and hear things clearly. Meanwhile, Safora was hiding under the counter with her phone in her hand, ready to text Mic the information needed to be sent.
Mic was already at the headquarters with a laptop, his phone and a voice recorder with Reen sitting beside him. They were very excited and wished that they could go to the beach together with Pete and Safora.
It was after nine o’clock when Pete saw a few men walking to the beach. They stopped not far from where Pete and Safora were hiding and sat down on the sand. They looked around them and a few minutes later, a tall man started the meeting.
“All right, is every body here?” started the tall man in a purple jacket in a low voice. “498, here. 767, here. 123, here. 555, here. ABC, here. And XYZ which is me, also here.”
“Now, where is 8910?” asked someone in a crooked voice.
“Never mind, that guy is always late,” said XYZ. “Maybe he’s asleep. All right, now we’ve got three doors. The first one is from Miss Nyla’s house, then from Mr. Lonard’s house and the third is from Mrs. Kale’s house which is not in Woodsland. We are going to steal 5 more doors, but we will do it outside of Woodsland. ABC, steal the strongest and finest door in Whitehall. 767, do the same thing as ABC in Petershall. 555, go to Mr. Pete’s, Miss Hong’s, and Mr. Luke’s house in Canary Street, Kingston and steal their doors tomorrow night. All three of them have nice doors and they will not be at home. They are now in London for a week. After you are done, bring those doors to our new headquarters at number 611 of 505 Street.”
Pete gave Safora a note to be sent to Mic saying,
“Tell our friend the police chief that doors might be stolen from Mr. Pete’s, Miss Hong’s, and Mr. Luke’s house in Canary Street, Kingston tomorrow night. Their HQ is at number 611 of 505 Street.”
Safora sent the message to Mic. Anyway she forgot to silent her phone and it made a loud beep that surprised the gang. Pete grabbed Safora’s hands and together they crept to the bushes behind the stall and after they are far enough, they ran home as fast as they could, afraid of being caught.
It was a windy night and waves made a loud sound as they crashed on the shore. Pete and Safora were lucky that the gang could not hear or see them creeping in the bushes. The gang checked their phones and asked each other whose phone was beeping. They then searched all around them and after a while one of the gang said, “This is creepy, I think we should stop this meeting and continue some other times just in case there is some body watching us.“
“Disperse!” said XYZ, and all of them ran away in different directions.

“Mic! Reen! It’s tea time,” called their mother.
“Mom, can we have tea at our favourite place in the garden, please? asked Pete.
“Of course,” answered his mother.
The children ran to their favourite table in the garden and took their seats.
“It is very hard to solve this mystery,” said Reen. “I haven’t been able to estimate the length of our suspect’s nose, the length of his arms, the size of his shoes and the size of his shirt,” continued Reen. “I don’t think we could solve it. There are…”
“Hello children. Look who is here to see you,” said Reen’s mother as she walked towards them followed by Miss Nyla. Miss Nyla carried a big tray loaded with home baked cookies and cakes.
“Good afternoon, children,” said Miss Nyla with a big smile. “I baked these lovely cookies and cake especially for all of you. I hope you’ll love them,” she continued.
“Lovely!” said Safora. “Look at those delicious chocolate chips on the cookies. And the cake looks so tasty with cream and huge, fresh strawberries! Thank you, Miss Nyla. You are very kind.”
Just as Miss Nyla and Reen’s mother went inside the house, someone on a motorcycle dropped something in front of Reen’s house.
“Hey!” shouted Mic as he ran to the gate. He saw a newspaper by the roadside and picked it up. “He’s gone,” said Mic to himself. Mic told his friends what had happened and looking at the newspaper, he asked,”Should we check this newspaper just in case if there’s a message or something?”
Then he saw something written on the front page of the newspaper.
“Tell 8910 a meeting Wednesday 9pm at the beach.
XYZ will lead the meeting.
555 of vd (burn after reading)”
“It’s a message to the guy called 8910!” said Pete. “But who is he and what is vd? Is it a place?”
“I know!” shouted Reen. “Seera Soora Sora of Cape Verde. It’s a code. The three fives are codes for three ‘s’ and vd is…”
“That’s impossible, Reen!” said Mic who was tired of Reen’s weird theories, before Reen could go on. “I think 555 of vd refers to somebody with a code name, 555 and vd means vanishing doors.”
“Good thinking, Mic!” said Pete. “555 could be a code name and vd could be vanishing doors. Clever, Mic”.
Mic smiled proudly.
“Now time for a plan. We’ll need someone to spy the meeting and someone else to help the spy send informations by texting to the headquarters. One of us will be staying at the headquarters which is here, to collect information and ready to call for help just in case anything happen.”
“I think Pete will spy,” started Mic. “Safora will assist Pete and I will be at the head quarters.”
“Right,” says Pete. “Today is Tuesday so we’ll better get ready for the meeting. Get your darkest shirt, Safora. We’ll be going there 10 minutes early and we would hide behind a closed stall. Mic, be ready about 13 minutes before the meeting. Understand, everybody?” asked Pete.
“But what about me?” asked Reen.
“I’m sorry, Reen. I forgot to tell you that you’ll be Mic’s assistant. Please make sure that both of you will not fall asleep. Now let’s get prepared!” said Pete.

“We lost him!” shouted Reen.
“Don’t lose hope,” said Pete. “He went into the circus tent. Come on, Reen. Lets go after him.”
Pete ran towards the tent followed by Reen. It was in the middle of a circus show, so both of them bought their tickets and took their seats. They watched the clown juggled five apples on his legs while doing a handstand. Then they watched a bear dancing on a huge ball and next, they watched a monkey hopping on one leg on a tightrope.
They looked around them but the man they were after was nowhere to be seen. A man with a bowler hat called for a volunteer for the next act. Reen was the first volunteer. He put his right hand into the clown’s hat and took out a chicken sitting in a basket. The chicken jumped out of the basket and inside the basket there were four little eggs that were green instead of brown. The clown gave Reen a souvenir and Reen walked back to his seat with a big smile.
Then another volunteer walked to the circus ring for the next act. The boy looked familiar, he walked in a familiar way, when he introduced himself, his name sounded familiar and his voice sounded familiar too. The boy looked at the crowd as if he was searching for somebody.
Reen looked at the volunteer and said, “Pete, that’s my big brother Mic.”
Mic was searching for Pete and Reen. He saw them entering the circus tent and went after them. Anyway he lost them after he bought his ticket, so he took a seat hoping to see them later. He was looking around at the crowd when he saw Reen put up his hands high up in the air waving at him. Mic nodded and waved back before he went back to his seat. He sent Safora a text message telling her that he found Pete and Reen in the circus tent.
And then, the most unexpected and surprising thing happened. Three men swung around and out came the Mayor of Woodsland jumping down from something that looked like a giant leaf that was lowered down to the middle of the circus ring to officiate the fair. Everyone clapped their hands and at that moment, Reen saw the man that they were looking for. He told Pete about it and Pete nodded and whispered that he saw the man too.
Pete got up from his seat as if he was bored and pretended to walk to the door followed by Reen. They passed the suspect, noticing his behaviour with other people. He seemed to be kind and gentle but looked a little nervous. Pete was looking at him when the man got up pretending he was going to the toilet.
Pete walked out of the circus tent and as he took out his phone to send Mic a text message, he saw that his phone battery was dead. Luckily they saw Safora and Pete told her to tell Mic to meet them under the tree where they ate their ice creams earlier.
Meanwhile, Mic was enjoying an act where a monkey was riding a beautiful, white horse. The horse galloped fast around the circus ring with the monkey on its back and white mice on their heads. He was quite sad to read the message because he was looking forward for another act by the monkey and the horse.
Mic went outside and ran to the place where his friends were waiting for him. Pete told Mic and Safora about the suspect and why he and Reen rushed inside the circus tent without waiting for Safora and Mic.
They met Pete’s father who was still seating on the bench. He was reading another sports newspaper when he saw them coming. He bought them tasty burgers with crispy fries for lunch and they had more ice creams before they left the fair.
Pete’s father drove them back home and as he stopped his car in front of Mic’s house, Mic’s father invited him in. The children went to Mic’s room to discuss about the mystery. They listed out the clues and suspects in their note books and realised that they still need much more clues to solve the mystery.

A boy rode a horse across the desert with a small bag in his hand. A sheriff rushed past the trotting horse wondering what he ate for dinner on Wednesday last weekend. Suddenly he remembered something. He turned around and ran towards the boy.
The boy saw the sheriff coming and he quickly brushed his teeth and rode towards Las Vegas. The Sheriff whistled and down came a falcon which belonged to his good friend, Mr. Black Blun. He climbed up onto the falcon and commanded Black to follow the boy to Las Vegas.
Meanwhile on the falcon, the sheriff took out a tiny bag and pulled out a toothbrush and a cute, little tube of clove flavoured toothpaste and start brushing his teeth. Black ate lemons one after another until at last, they arrived at their destination. The sheriff jumped down of the falcon with Black and the falcon flew away tearing a billboard sign.
“Oh,” said Black. “There goes my falcon. Oh well, why are we here, Sheriff?”
The Sheriff answered, “I want to meet that boy. He’s now in one of those crowds that are brushing their teeth facing a mirror while closing their eyes and lying down on the floor. They brush their teeth for an hour every week on Wednesday.”
The two men walked around the place and found four groups of people who were brushing their teeth facing a mirror while closing their eyes and lying down on the floor. The sheriff spotted the boy and he quickly ran towards him but the leader of the group who was also brushing his teeth at the time, ran towards the sheriff to offer him a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste.
Anyway, the sheriff could not understand what he was saying because he could only mumble, for his mouth was full of toothpaste. The sheriff thought he was trying to sell some tooth brushing set, so he pushed the guy away and ran towards the boy. Just as the Sheriff was about to reach the boy, everyone got up and ran towards him to where the sinks were to clean their mouth. They collided with the Sheriff and the sheriff tumbled down onto the floor.
The Sheriff got up but two men ran into him and he fell down again. As he got up again, some children who came out of nowhere came running and bumped into him. Then he got up and ran quickly without looking where he was going and he slipped over some slippery toothpaste that spilled all over the floor. He got up again and slipped over that the toothpaste again, and again, and again until the children came back running towards him. He rolled aside and ran away while the children disappeared into some sort of tent.
The Sheriff then went inside the tent to see what was happening. Then, as he was about to push away the velvet curtain at the tent’s entrance, a large motorcycle flew over his head, almost knocking it off. The Sheriff ran to the rider who looked like a Chinese man and he hugged the rider tightly till he was almost chocked.
“My brother!” the sheriff exclaimed excitedly. “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you. The last time we met was when you joined the police force.”
“Hi, there, big brother!” said the sheriff’s brother with a big smile. “How have you been? It’s really nice to see you again”, continued his brother.
But the sheriff had no time to answer as at that very moment, the boy he was looking for ran in front of him. He ran after the boy and he caught the boy’s sleeves but the boy turned out to be someone else. It was the man who offered the Sheriff a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste before he was knocked down to the floor. The sheriff quickly ran away before the man. who was still holding a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste in his hands, could say anything and bumped into another boy. It was the boy he was chasing!
The boy was holding some drumsticks and he started a parade followed by more and more people marching behind him, singing all sort of national anthems. First they sang the Uruguay’s national anthem, then Spain’s, after that they sang Germany’s national anthem, next followed by China’s, and last of all, they sang the Russian national anthem.
They sang so loudly that they did not need any microphone. The sheriff decided to join the parade so he could catch up with the boy. But trying as hard as he could, he failed to move near to the boy even after they repeated singing the national anthems six times over and over again.
Then, the sheriff decided to look for a lasso. He saw one on the floor and he took it up. He started to spin it, but as he spun it at full speed, he started to dance to the beat of a song played somewhere. Only then he found out that it was a musical lasso that will make people dance when they spin it. So he let go of the spinning lasso and went to a magic show.
He volunteered in a magic trick. In that trick, he became inflatable and flew up into the air. After enjoying flying in the air, he pressed a special button and slowly he grew smaller and smaller until he was on the ground again.
He continued searching for the boy until all of a sudden, the boy ran towards him. The boy gave him a bright brown hat with wings on it, and the wings started to flap.
The sheriff smiled happily, “Thanks, boy. This hat is awesome! I was looking for you all over the place to ask about this special hat that I ordered last week. Now here’s the money. Bye, see you later!”
