Photos: Splendid Snow Art By Simon Beck

Beck has never traveled anywhere else to do snow art, but says on his Facebook page he’d like to: “I would like to do this in arctic Norway in the light of the Aurora.” According to the artist’s Facebook page, skills needed to make this kind of art: orienteering, physical stamina, accurate use of a compass and distance measurement by pace counting. Simon Beck is originally an orienteering mapmaker.

Then he turned his attention to creating splendid, gigantic artistic patterns in the snow and his ‘artwork’ are so beautiful.

It must be very hard to make the snow art because of the huge size and it was done on snow field as the canvas.

The Englishman got the idea after he bought a French ski resort, Les Arcs, back in 2004. In 2009, after creating the amazing shapes, some of them size of two to three soccer fields, Beck started seriously focusing on making and photographing his art. (Photo by Simon Beck)
