TransAsia Airways Flight GE 235 Crashed In Keelung River

A TransAsia Airways flight GE 235 that took off at 10:53am (Taiwan time), crashed in a Keelung River in Taipei a few minutes later, killing at least 15 people on board.

According to the Taiwanese authorities, there were 53 passengers and five crews on board the plane.

About 30 people are still missing.

The plane’s wing hit a taxi cab before it crashes, slightly injuring the driver and the passenger of the taxi.

Deadly Gas Explosions In Taiwan Killed 25 (Photos)

Multiple gas explosions in the city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan at about midnight Thursday and early Friday , killed at least 25 people and injuring 267 others.

Four firefighters were among the dead and the death toll was likely to rise.

The explosions sparked a massive inferno with flames shooting up to 15 storeys into the air that tore through the city’s Cianjhen district.

The blast shook buildings like there was an earthquake, toppling small shops and throwing cars flying into the air.

One street had been split along its length, swallowing six fire engines and other vehicles.

Officials said that the fires were believed caused by a leak of underground propene pipelines.

Propene is a petrochemical material not intended for public use, but the cause and source of the leak were not immediately clear.

The National Fire Agency says on its website that one of the fires, along a 10-meter (33-foot) stretch of gas line, was still burning into midday Friday.

More than 1,100 had evacuated overnight.

Lao Airlines Flight QV301 Crashed, 49 Killed

Lao Airlines plane crashed into the Mekong River in the southern city of Pakse, near the border with Thailand, just before 16:00 (ICT) on Wednesday.

Lao Airlines Flight QV301 crashed in the Mekong River, killing all 49 passengers and crews.

The state-run Lao Airlines said in a statement that the plane took off from the capital Vientiane and “ran into extreme bad weather conditions” as it prepared to land at Pakse Airport.

AP reported that 17 of the victims were from Lao, seven from France, five were from Australia five from Thailand, three from Korea, two from Vietnam and one person each from Canada, China, Malaysia, Taiwan and the United States.

The airline said it had yet to determine reasons for the crash of the ATR-72 aircraft which was virtually new and had just been delivered in March.

This morning an annular eclipse was seen in Asia.

An annular eclipse is a rare astronomical event.

An annular eclipse happens when moon and sun align/in straight line over the earth.

Typhoon Megi Hit Taiwan-Photos

On Friday at least 3 people were dead and 27 people were missing after Typhoon Megi hit Taiwan.

The powerful typhoon caused massive mud and rockslides.

A Buddhist temple was buried and vehicles were trapped on a highway.

A bus carrying 19 Chinese tourists was missing.

Typhoon Megi killed 26 people in the Philippines before hitting Taiwan.

It is expected to make a landfall in southern China by late Friday or Saturday.

A typhoon is a natural disaster.
