Kak Nurul Afni’s Wedding

On 31st March, 2012 I went to Klang for Kak Nurul Afni Abdul Ghaffar(Kak Nini) and Abang Mohd Fadzil’s wedding.

Kak Nini  is the daughter of  Uncle Ghaffar (Uncle Apo).

My father’s elder brother, Mohd Kamal Omar was Uncle Ghaffar’s classmate when they were schooling at Sultan Sulaiman Secondary School(SSSS) in Kuala Terengganu.

My father met a lot of his SSSS schoolmates including Uncle Nik Paudzi, Uncle Anuar, Uncle Raja Kamarul, Uncle Tengku Jaafar, Uncle Bukhori and Uncle Razak.

The food was delicious especially the bubur pulut hitam or black glutinous rice porridge.

I told Uncle Ghaffar about the book that I wrote and he knew that I am a blogger.

Ex-schoolmates of Sultan Sulaiman Secondary School, Kuala Terengganu : (L-R) Uncle Nik Paudzi, Uncle Anuar, Uncle Raja Kamarul,Uncle Tengku Jaafar, Uncle Ghaffar(the bride's father), Uncle Bukhori, Uncle Razak, Karim(my father) and me(in red T-shirt).

Meeting Uncle Cikgu Wan Hassan (My Father’s Teacher)

Yesterday, I met Uncle Cikgu Wan Hassan in Bangsar.

He is from Terengganu.

And he was my father‘s teacher in Sultan Sulaiman Secondary School (SSSS) in Kuala Terengganu.

He used to be my father’s scout teacher

Now he lives in Besut.

His wife, Aunty Cikgu Faridah Mohd Dagang also used to teach in SSSS (1981-1997).

Now the school’s new name is Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Sulaiman.

Anyway we didn’t visit his house, we visited his son’s house

We ate rice with very tasty fried chicken, chicken percik, curry, ulam (Malaysian salad) and lots of other dishes.

My mother used to study in the school too, so my parents enjoyed talking to their old school teachers and their son.

Anyway I didn’t enjoy so much being there because there was not much things to do and I do not understand what they were talking about 😉

A Day in Melaka (Malacca)

Yesterday I went to Melaka to visit Uncle Khairul Najmi’s mother.

Her name is Opah Asmah Idris.

Uncle Najmi is my father’s good friend.

She had a heart attack on Sunday.

She is now in the CCU ward of Hospital Melaka.

I met Atuk Idris and Aunty Aini at the hospital.

(but we forgot to take photo at the hospital)

After that we had lunch at ‘Lot 85’ with my father’s friends.

Their names are Aunty Jennifer Lim, Uncle Lee Chong Seong, Uncle Yong Chin Fook, Uncle David Wang and Uncle Ridwan Aziz.

They are Sulaimanians – they used to study at Sultan Sulaiman Secondary School (SSSS) in Kuala Terengganu. (The school blog – Click)

Now they live in Melaka.

I eat tasty nasi ayam (chicken rice) and drink a nice, cold lime juice.

We stop at Masjid Al-Azim for zohor.

On the way home, I saw a forest fire by the highway.

Forest fire is a disaster.

The forest fire reminds me of Micheal Jackson’s ‘Earth Song’.

I am sad because I was asleep in the car when Auntie Yaman called from Sudan.

I enjoyed the trip and hope to go to Melaka again.

They used to study in Sultan Sulaiman Secondary School.

Now Teacher Yasmin is an English teacher at SMKSM.
