Toys From Thrown Flip-Flop

There are lots of discarded flip-flop slippers washed up on Kenya beaches everyday.

A small company in Nairobi is collecting those discarded footwear and recycling them into colourful and cute toys.

To me, it’s a very nice idea for it won’t cause extra pollution from factories to make new toys.

Here are some photos …

Photos Of August 18, 2011 Dust Storm Around Phoenix, Arizona

A giant wall of dust hit Metropolitan Phoenix  for the third time within the last six weeks.

The dust storm, known as a haboob, was 1,000 feet high and traveled at least 50 miles into metro Phoenix and neighboring Pinal County on Thursday evening.

Weather experts said such huge dust storms only happen in Arizona, Africa’s Sahara desert and parts of the Middle East.

Flights were delayed and some people were without electricity because of the dust storm.

Homes were damaged, roofs were torn off businesses, trees landed on top of homes and a junior high school has part of its roof missing in the city of Eloy, in Pinal County.

Pollution levels was very high during dust storms and caused breathing problems for people with asthma and other similar conditions.

Oil Spill In China-It Can Happen In Malaysia Too

On Friday night, July 16 2010 an oil pipeline exploded at the Xingang port in China.

More than 2000 fire fighters and 338 fire engines worked for 15 hours to stop the fire.

The explosion caused an oil spill around the Dalian port.

This oil spill is not as bad as the spill in the Gulf Of Mexico.

Oil spill can happen anywhere in the world.

So we must be careful to prevent it.

It is a disaster.

Oil spill caused serious water pollution and can pollute the lands around it.

It can kill animals such as fish, crab, clam and birds.

It can kill plants too.

Cleaning oil spill is hard and very expensive.

Below are photos of the oil spill in China from Yahoo News.

A 0.9-meter-diameter oil pipeline exploded at 6 p.m. Friday near Dalian's Xingang Harbor, triggering an adjacent smaller pipeline to explode too. The oil leak seriously polluted 11 square kilometers of sea and slightly affected 50 square kilometers also, according to local environment protection bureau. (Xinhua/Tian Jingyue) (wqq)

Is Malaysia ready for oil spill?

Pictures Of Gulf Coast Oil Spill-Are Malaysian Oil Rigs Safe?

On the April 20, 2010 there was an explosion at the BP oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico.

The oil spilled to the ocean and caused a bad pollution.

The waves carry the oil to the beaches.

The polluted water killed the sea creatures and birds.

The birds died because when they dived into the sea to get their prey, they were soaked in the oil.

The oil soaked bird cannot fly.

This is a disaster.

There are off shore oil rigs in Malaysia too.

So we have to be careful to avoid the oil rig explosion.

Are Malaysian oil rigs safe?

We can avoid the oil rig explosion if we do not dig the oil from the sea.

Ways To Heal Our Earth

  • Stop the wars because the wars destroy trees, buildings, animals, humans and caused pollutions and wars can destroy our Earth.

  • Stop doing all the things that can harm our Earth.

  • Plant lots and lots of trees.

  • Use organic farming to reduce pollution.

  • The government should find ways so that everybody can use solar energy for electricity.

  • Invent transports that do not cause pollution maybe we can use solar energy.

  • Plant lots of trees around factories to reduce air pollution.

  • Stop building factories around lakes, rivers or sea and houses.

  • Do not produce too much things to reduce industrial waste.

  • Do not use dangerous chemical in factories.

  • Stop demolishing buildings that are still strong and safe because we cause pollution during demolishing and we need a place to throw the rubble. When we build a new building we’ll need new bricks, glass, steel and wood and cause more damage to the Earth.

  • Clean up the rubbish around us.

  • Clean the polluted rivers and lakes. Take out the rubbish and treat the water.

  • Recycle, reuse and reduce doing things that is bad for our environment.

  • Show the people what will happen if we do not heal our Earth. Even littering can cause a disaster.

  • Stop smoking because it causes air pollution just like factories. If someone want to smoke they should only smoke in a cave deep in the jungle.

Stop Destroying Our Earth

People like to do things that harm the Earth.

Wars, cutting down trees, littering, polluting and forest fire are some of the things that harm our environment.

Cutting down trees especially on the hillside caused landslide that will push down new trees and that tree will push down other trees; so more and more trees will be pushed down.

I think it is like playing domino; when we push down one tile, it will push down another tile and more tiles will fall down.

Littering can cause flash flood when the rubbish block the drain; the flood will damaged buildings and plants and caused water pollution and leave rubbish everywhere.

Industrial wastes from factories cause water pollution, air pollution and toxic rain.

Cars, trucks, buses, ships, boats aeroplanes and other vehicles caused air pollution.

In the cities there are lots of buildings and vehicles but not much trees.

And we are also using too much fuel energy.

We cause global warming and global warming causes disasters that destroy the Earth.

Water Pollution

United Nations says that water pollution is now a serious problem.

This is a disaster.

We may not have clean water to drink!

Water pollution is dirty water because people throw rubbish in the water.

Factories throw dirty water and sometimes toxic waste into the rivers and lakes.

The oil from the ships and boats also pollute the water.

Sometimes there are not much oxygen in polluted water.

So the fishes cannot breathe and die.

There are lots of kinds of germs inside the water that is polluted.

Water pollution caused Cholera, diarrhoea, food poisoning, some skin diseases and other health problems.

Animals, human and plants can die because of diseases caused  by polluted water.

Acid rains also pollute the rivers, lakes and seas.

Acid rains are caused by air pollution.

We must stop throwing rubbish in to the water.

We must invent boats and ships that won’t pollute the water.

We must treat the water that we use at homes and factories before sending them to the river.

We must clean the polluted rivers and lakes.

We can use protozoa to eat the bacteria in the polluted water.

I want people to stop polluting the water and stop polluting our earth.
