Serdang and Kajang were hit by bad flash floods after heavy rains yesterday evening.
Floods were reported in Kajang Heights, Country Heights, Sungai Ramal Dalam, Taman Sri Serdang, Serdang Jaya and Seri Kembangan at about 5pm.
Balakong, Sungai Chua and Jade Hill were also hit by the flash flood.
It was reported that a six-man team was sent to Country Heights with one rescue boat as they received information that 20 houses were flooded.
In Taman Sri Serdang, about 100 vehicles were left stranded and 350 houses were in a metre of floodwaters.
600 students and teachers from two schools in Taman Sri Serdang were trapped after the afternoon session ended and were evacuated by boats.
Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah said the flood was due to Sungai Kuyoh overflowing.
He said that the water level at several rivers in Kajang is at a cautionary level, but under control.
Several parts of highways around the area were also flooded and were closed during the flood and traffic has to be diverted.
