The Jalur Gemilang

Bersih 4 or Janji Bersih or Janji Demokrasi was over but a lot of people are still angry about the bad things they did.

And I am also angry especially about the Sang Saka Malaya issue that I think is dishonouring our country and the real independence fighters.

When I first read the news about some demonstrators waving weird flags and distributing flyers saying that Jalur Gemilang must go and the weird flag should become the new flag of Malaysia, I was angry.

I felt that the actions were rude and unpatriotic and suspected that they want to turn Malaysia into a republic nation like Indonesia and Singapore.

This flyer was distributed at the Janji Bersih demonstration.

I love Jalur Gemilang and I love my country and I am angry when people do not respect the laws.

I keep on asking why must the demonstrators were so rude and what was so special about the weird flag to them?

Jalur Gemilang is very beautiful indeed, with pretty red and white stripes, beautiful crescent and star and with all the primary colours that describes the important facts about Malaysia.

The crescent represents Islam, the religion of the country, the 14 strips represents the 13 states and the federal government and the 14 points of the star represent their unity.

Blue symbolizes the unity of the Malaysian people; the yellow of the star and crescent is the royal colour of our royal rulers.

So I wonder why some people think that Sang Saka Malaya will be a better flag for Malaysia, unless if they have bad agendas.

Historian Prof. Ramlah Adam said that Sang Saka was the flag of the Kesatuan Melayu Muda (KMM) or Young Malays Union whose agenda was to join Malaysia and Republic Indonesia and turn Malaysia into a republic nation just like Indonesia.

After understanding the real facts, I feel even more angry; especially when PR leaders lied and claimed that Sang Saka Malaya was waved to honour the independence fighters and that the flag was a historical flag and a symbol of the fights for our independence.

Our real independence fighters are the fighters who supported the sultans as our rulers and not those who wanted to turn Malaysia into a republic nation!

So do the people who claim that Sang Saka Malaya is a symbol of the fights for our independence share the same dream with those people who tried to turn Malaysia into a republic nation?

After the  Janji Bersih’s new flag for Malaysia incident, I had the chance to discuss the matter with a lawyer and a politician.

When I met Uncle Naser Disa who is a lawyer on Friday, I asked him if it is okay to put up a new flag and suggesting the idea to change the Malaysian flag during our Merdeka celebration?

He answered that the action is wrong and those people should not do it if they respect the law and love our country.

He also said that it is not a good idea to change our flag.

And when I asked him if ‘disrespecting the flag’ is a humiliation to the country, he said,’Yes’.

On Sunday when I went to Uncle Kamaruddin Mohd. Nor’s  house, I asked him if it is all right to change our flag.

I (R) was asking Uncle Kamaruddin (L) questions about the ‘new flag incident’.

He said that we should not change our flag.

He explained that there are things that can be changed but there are things that should not be changed.

For example, the Americans don’t change their flag and so do the people of the United Kingdom who are proud of their Union Jack.

Uncle Kamaruddin said we must love and respect our flag.

So, why did some people try to change our flag?

I guess only Janji Bersih and PR who wants the new flag and they even have a name for the flag, Sang Saka Malaya. Please read here ,  here and here.

My question is, since Libya has a new flag after the revolution, is PR ready to start a revolution by introducing the new flag?

And does PR wants Malaysia to be a ‘Republik Malaysia’?
