Breathtaking Photos Of Kai Tak Airport Glory Days By Daryl Chapman

There was once a busy international airport in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong named Hong Kong Kai Tak International Airport (Kai Tak).
The airport was in the middle of the city with tall buildings all around and where people drive and walk to their office.
Before it was closed in 1998, Kai Tak was regarded as one of the most difficult airports in the world for pilots to fly in and out of.
It is very dangerous because the aeroplanes may hit the high buildings around the airport .
Cathay Pacific Airways’ general manager of operations and pilot, Russell Davie said:
“As a pilot it was totally unique, it was the only major airport in the world that required a 45-degree turn below 500 feet to line up with the runway, literally flying between the high-rise buildings passing close to the famous orange and white checker board as you made that final turn toward the runway.”
Here are some of the photos of the aeroplanes from the airport and the ones that are going to Kai Tak in Kowloon Bay…

9 Killed On Hijacked Tourist Bus In Manila
On August 23, 2010, a man hijacked a tourist bus in Manila.
The tourist are from Hong Kong.
He was a policeman but he was sacked.
He hijacked the bus because he want to be a policeman again.
At first he let go nine hostages.
Then he got angry and started shooting.
The police tried to save the hostages.
He was killed by the police.
I wonder why people need to hijack and killed hostages when they are angry.
It is not a good way to get what you want.
Hijacking is a disaster; just like a war.
We should not use violence because violence can destroy our Earth.

Lufthansa Cargo Plane Crashed
On Tuesday July 27,2010 a Lufthansa cargo plane crashed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This is a disaster.
Its German pilot and co-pilot were injured.
The plane was close to the airport when it caught fire and the engines stopped working.
Then it crashed and split into two halves.
The plane came from Frankfurt to Riyadh and was on the way to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and then to Hong Kong.
I think it was lucky that the pilot and co- pilot were not killed in the crash.
In the Fedex plane crash in China on March 23, 2009 the pilot ad co-pilot were killed.
