A strong 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck 170 miles (273 kilometers) southwest of Mexico City at about 9:30 a.m. (10:30 a.m. EDT; 1430 GMT) on Friday shaking central and southern Mexico .
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was centered 22 miles (36 kilometers) northwest of the town of Tecpan de Galeana, and was 15 miles (24 kilometers) deep.
There were reports of cracked walls, fallen fences and walls, fallen trees, broken windows and a power outage but there were no reports of major damage or casualties.
USGS seismologist Gavin Hayes said that the earthquake occurred along a section of the Pacific Coast known as the Guerrero Seismic Gap, a 125-mile (200-kilometer) section where tectonic plates meet and have been locked, meaning huge amounts of energy are being stored up with potentially devastating effects.
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Baluchistan on Tuesday.
The U.S. Geological Survey said, the quake, with a depth of about nine miles (about 15 kilometers), struck 43 miles (69 kilometers) northeast of Awaran and 71 miles (114 kilometers) northwest of Bela.
It destroyed houses and cut communications with the worst affected district of Awaran.
The earthquake was so powerful that it caused a small island to emerge from the Arabian Sea, just off the Pakistani coast.
Pakistani officials said that the earth moved with enough force to create a small island visible off the southern coast after the huge tremor.
By Wednesday, 327 people were reported killed by the disaster.
China’s Sichuan province was hit by an earthquake on Saturday morning April 20, 2013.
The official Xinhua news agency reported that at least 71 people were killed while more than 2200 others were injured.
The earthquake occurred at 8.02 a.m. (0002 GMT) in Lushan county near Ya’an city and the epicenter had a depth of 12 km (7.5 miles), the U.S. Geological Survey said.
China’s seismological bureau measured the earthquake at magnitude-7 while the U.S. Geological Survey at 6.6.
It was reported that nearly all of the structures in Longmen village collapsed and that nearly 10,000 houses were damaged throughout the county.
Water and electricity were cut off in Lushan.
The shallow depth of the earthquake caused greater damages to the area.
Hard-hit parts of the county remained unreachable by road, with several highways cut off.
On May 12, 2008, a devastating 7.9-magnitude quake struck the nearby area leaving more than 90,000 people dead or missing and presumed dead.
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Guatemala on Wednesday at around 10:35 a.m. local time (11:35 EDT), killing at least 48 people.
At least 23 people are still missing.
The strong earthquake damaged buildings, cars and roads.
The quake struck off Guatemala’s Pacific coast, 15 miles south of Champerico and 101 miles west-southwest of the capital”, said the US Geological Survey.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 26 miles below the surface.
Most of the dead were buried under debris in San Marcos state, a mountainous region near the Mexican border.
Landslides that blocked the roads in some areas and severely damaged about 40 houses.
San Marcos state governor Luis Rivera said that the state government offices were almost completely destroyed.
In Guatemala City, office workers evacuated office buildings, although most soon returned to work.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said a small tsunami was registered on Guatemala’s coast, adding that there was a risk of localized damage within a 62 mile radius.
The quake was also felt in El Salvador and more than 765 miles away in Mexico City.
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck off the west coast of Canada.
It was followed by a 5.8 magnitude aftershock several minutes later and several other aftershocks were also reported.
The quake hit Queen Charlotte Islands after 8 pm local time, Saturday at a depth of about 3 miles (5 kilometes) and was centered 96 miles (155 kilometers) south of Masset, British Columbia.
The quake was felt across much of north and central British Columbia but there were no immediate reports of major damage.
The National Weather Service issued a tsunami warning for coastal areas of British Columbia, southern Alaska and Hawaii.
A powerful earthquake shook Costa Rica on Wednesday.
It killed at least two people.
The quake was centered about 38 miles (60 kilometers) from the town of Liberia and 140 kilometres (87 miles)west of the capital, of San Jose.
The magnitude was estimated at 7.9 but soon downgraded to 7.6.
Three strong aftershocks of magnitudes 4.6, 4.5 and 4.4 followed the powerful earthquake.
The quake was deep, at 25 miles (41 kilo meters) below the surface, so it caused less damage.
This area is a seismically active zone where the Cocos tectonic plate dives beneath the Caribbean plate.
It was reported that roads were cracked,some houses, buildings and at least one bridge were damaged.
It also caused landslides which blocked highways.
In the town of Hojancha, a few miles (kilometers) from the epicenter, city official Kenia Campos said the quake knocked down some houses and landslides blocked several roads.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit in the Pacific Ocean about 78 miles off the coast of El Salvador late Sunday night.
The earthquake struck 74 miles south of Usulutan, El Salvador, at a depth of 33 miles.
A tsunami warning was in effect for Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama and Mexico.
But the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
There were no immediate reports of damage to coastal areas or to shipping.
On Saturday, a magnitude 6.4 and a magnitude6.3 earthquakes hit northwest Iran.
The first earthquake struck 60 km (37 miles) northeast of the city of Tabriz and the second struck 11 minutes later near Varzaghan, 49 km (30 miles) northeast of Tabriz.
The two powerful earthquakes injured at least 2600 people.
So far 300 people were reported killed.
The earthquakes caused a lot of damages.
Lots of buildings and houses were destroyed and roads to the villages were cut out.
About 110 villages were damaged in the quakes.
There were no drinking water in some villages.
There could be more people still trapped under the rubble.
Hospitals are overcrowded with thousands of the earthquake victims.
