Acting As The Deputy Prime Minister

The afternoon before the Seminar Dakwah Nasional, we were already busy at the Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) to get things ready for the seminar.

Uncle Mahmud who was the event floor manager, told us that we need to do a rehearsal of the officiating ceremony by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia so that he could estimate the timing of the event.

When I volunteered to be the DPM, Uncle Mahmud thought that I was too young and fear if I could not do it right since the DPM was the main role in the rehearsal and I need to pretend to make the opening speech and launch the books.

Anyway, Pak Cik Amin supported me and so were the others who said that I’ll be able to do it.

And so, I became the Deputy Prime Minister in the rehearsal 🙂

Abang Nasrul (L) as Datuk Nakhaie and I (M) as the DPM walked on the red carpet to Dewan Merdaka, Oct. 7, 2012.

Abang Nasrul volunteered to be Datuk Ustaz Hj Mohd Nakhaie, Pak Cik Burhan as Pak Cik Amin and Pak Cik Amin as Ustaz Muhammad ‘Uthman El-Muhammady.

Pak Cik Amin (L), Abang Nasrul (2nd L), I and another abang (R) who played the roll of Pak Cik Amin listening to instructions from Uncle Mahmud. In the background were Pak Cik Burhan and my father (R).

It was fun but it was not that easy and I must do it seriously because the event was very important and Uncle Mahmud needed the right timing for the music and other things.

I had to walk from the beginning of the red carpet escorted by Abang Nasrul to the Dewan Merdeka followed by Kashah who played the role as the media.

I need to walk like an important leader.

As the DPM, I must not walk too fast or not too slow and I must walk on the red carpet.

And at last, when I arrived at the Dewan Merdeka, I went up the stage and was greeted by Pak Cik Amin.

Uncle Mahmud was very busy directing us.

I sat at the DPM’s seat and Abang Nasrul escorted me to the rostrum to make the speech to officiate the seminar.

Abang Nasrul accompanied me as the DPM to officiate the seminar.
I am too small for the rostrum that Kashah had to snap the photo of me giving speech from the side.

After that we went to our seats.

Next I went to the other side of the stage to launch the books followed Abang Nasrul and Pak Cik Amin.

Pak Cik Amin (R) accompanied me to launch the new books.

Another photo of the rehearsal.
We were busy acting our rolls.
I posed to the press after launching the books.
I enjoyed my roll as the DPM.
We need to do things seriously because we were rehearsing for an important event.

The music was too loud and the speaker was very near so it hurt my ears.

We had to do the rehearsal 3 times 🙂

We need to start all over again.
I am very glad to help even though I am the youngest volunteer.

I was very excited to play the role as the DPM and give a speech on the stage at the Dewan Merdeka, PWTC because I want to become a politician and give speeches at PWTC.

In 2006, as I watched my big sister Kaman and Kashah gave a speech at PWTC, I told my mother that one day I’ll give a speech at PWTC too 🙂

Ustaz Muhammad ‘Uthman El-Muhammady presenting his papers during the Seminar Dakwah Nasional at the Dewan Merdeka, PWTC in Kuala Lumpur, October 8, 2012.

I met Ustaz Muhammad ‘Uthman El-Muhammady, Wan Adli Wan Ramli, Dr. Amran Muhammad, Prof. Dato’ Dr Sidek Baba, Ir. Dr. Muhamad Fuad Yeoh Abdullah, Professor Dato’ Paduka Mohamad Abu Bakar, Profesor Datuk Dr. Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar, Datuk Ustaz Hj Mohd Nakhaie Ahmad, YB Ustaz Nasharuddin Mat Isa, Atuk Mansor, Atuk Rahim, Abang Nazri, Abang Amnan, Abang Aiman, Abang Amar, Kak Aishah, Umi Wan, Umi Ila, Nenek Ummi, Pak Cik Amin, Pak Cik Burhan, YAB Tan Sri Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Mohd Yassin, Tok Mad, Uncle Rameli Musa, Uncle Ustaz Ismail Mina bin Ahmad, Uncle Mustafar Kamil, Khairy Jamaluddin’sMother, and other wonderful people who attended the seminar.

I also joined the Qasidah presentation together with the students of Darul Quran.

The Qasidah presentation by the students of Darul Quran. I sat at the left.

I joined the group of VIPs to a special room where Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin met Dr. Aiman Zaidan from the Al-Quds Foundation, Beirut.

I am very proud and happy to be able to snap this photo and to be at this event. From left is YB Nasharudin Mat Isa, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (M) and Dr. Aiman Zaidan (R), PWTC, October 8, 2012.

I was very lucky to be able to snap the above photo of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin receiving a souvenir which was a gift from Dr. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi.

This is the biggest seminar ever organised by MUAFAKAT.

More than 1200 people attended the seminar until we ran out of seats and had to open the seats on the upper floor.

After the end of the seminar on the first day, I was interviewed by TV AlHijrah.

And when the interview was over, I was chased by groups of abangs and kakaks from UPSI to talk and snap photos with me.

That was really fun 🙂

But it was hard work too and we had so much work to do.

I tried to help as much as I could since the day before the seminar.

I helped to usher people to the registration tables and to the seminar hall on the first and the second day of the seminar.

I also helped Abang Aiman to send an important note to the moderator during the seminar.

Because I’m the youngest and the smallest volunteer, I was always assigned to go up on stage to send notes or others to the penal of speakers during programs and seminars.

But the best part was during the rehearsal on the night before the program when my role was to be the Deputy Prime Minister.
