Alhamdulillah, dengan rahmat Allah S.W.T., majlis tahlil ayahanda kesayangan kami, Allahyarham Tuan Haji A. Karim bin Omar telahpun berjalan dengan lancar selama 3 malam berturut-turut.

Terima kasih diucapkan kepada semua yang telah menjayakan majlis tahlil ini.

Semoga roh Allahyarham dicucuri rahmat oleh Allah S.W.T., Amin.

Malam tahlil kedua dipenuhi oleh jemaah Surau Al-Hidayah Lorong Bahagia 5 (L5), diketuai oleh Imam Surau, Ustaz Yazid, dan Pengerusi Surau, Tuan Haji Rashid. Turut bersama di dalam majlis itu adalah teman-teman rapat arwah bapa saya, Datuk Ayob Khan daripada PDRM dan Dato’ Zulkifli Noordin.

A Special Gift From Uncle Zul Noordin

The Chinese Dilemma by Ye Lin-Sheng

I received this special present from Uncle Zul Noordin a day after he flew to Jeddah.

Since Uncle Zul is in Mekkah for Haj, the book was sent to me by Pak Cik Rusdi.

It is a very special book because it is very hard to get this book in Malaysia, and my father had been searching for this book every time we go to the book shops.

Uncle Zul bought me this book during one of his overseas trips and I’m so happy because Uncle Zul always remember me even though we have not met for months.

Thank you, Uncle Zul, may Allah bless you always and thank you again for the other book.

BANGSAKU SEDANG ME-LAYU – By Uncle Zul Noordin

Uncle Zul sent me this wonderful poem which he wrote on the ERL, on the way to the airport.

I’m touched by the words; it is sad to see how my own race losing our identity, dignity and power in favour to personal material gains and popularity.

I wish I too can write a poem with ‘powerful meaning’ that can touch the hearts of others.

Bangsaku Melayu
Sejarahnya tidak kaku
Budibahasanya nombor satu
Akhlaknya dicemburu
Tolak ansurnya tak pernah jemu

Dia perjuangkan kemerdekaan
Dia menjadi kerajaan kedaulatan
Dia beri imigran kewarganegaraan
Dia menjadi asykar pertahanan
Dia polis menjaga keamanan
Dia pegawai dasar kenegaraan
Dia kerani melaksanakan
Dia juga cikgu mencerdikkan

Tapi dia bergaduh bercakaran
Menikam merobek menelanjangkan
Amanah pusaka warisan diqorunkan

Yusuf Islam’s “Why I Still Carry A Guitar”

It was a surprise when Uncle Zulkifli Noordin told me last Thursday, that he had asked Yusuf Islam to sign his new book, “Why I Still Carry A Guitar” for me.

I was so excited because I enjoy Yusuf Islam’s songs like, “A Is For Allah” and “I Look I See”; and I think that he has a very beautiful voice.

Uncle Zul said that he’ll be sending me the book personally; and I just can’t wait to read the book!

On Sunday evening I heard the door bell ringing and to my surprise I saw Uncle Zul smiling at the gate holding a brown envelope.

I was so excited to see Uncle Zul and I was sure that the book was in the brown envelope.

The book is an auto biography of Yusuf Islam, what made him become a singer, why and how he converted to Islam and becomes Yusuf Islam from Cat Stevens and what made him sings again.

I truly enjoy reading the book even though I do not agree with Yusuf Islam about how the Arab Spring started.

It is amazing how he got to know Islam and what made him converted to Islam at the time when he was a very popular singer.

He wrote that after he becomes a Muslim, he once thought that music is forbidden in Islam but then he knew that it is okay and so he started singing and writing nasyids.

I want to thank Uncle Zul for giving me “Why I Still Carry A Guitar” signed by Yusuf Islam, it is a really special present – a special book written by a special person and given to me by an even more special person.

I really enjoyed reading the book and I don’t mind reading it again.

I was very lucky to have the chance to speak to an important person when Atuk Mansur introduced me to Tun Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim (former Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Malaysia).
