Terrible Flood In Pakistan Is Getting Worse-Pictures

The terrible flood in Pakistan is getting worse.

More than 1500 people were killed and over 3.2 million people effected by the flood.

Now Punjab is badly hit by the flood.

Water was so high, only treetops and uppermost floors of some buildings were visible in large tracts of Kot Addu and the nearby area of Layyah in the south of the province.

The flood is spreading to other areas in Pakistan too.

And more heavy rains are expected in the next few days.

More rain can cause more flood.

And there are lots of bad germs in the dirty flood water.

The flood victims are facing lots of waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea and skin problems.

A lot of the flood victims don’t have clean water, enough food and medicine to fight the diseases.

More people will die especially the children.

The United Nations said that this is a terrible humanitarian disaster.

I think we should help the flood victims because the situation will get even worse if  we do not help them.

Flood Caused Garbage Islands In China’s Yangtze River-Pictures

There are garbage islands in China’s Yangtze River after the terrible flood.

In some part, the garbage were so thick that people can stand on it.

Flood caused the garbage islands by carrying garbage from one place to another and dump them into the river.

Garbage pollute the river and can cause health problems.

The flood damaged buildings and trees.

The Three Gorges Dam is on the Yangtze River.

And the amount of garbage in the river could jam the gate of the dam.

The decaying garbage can also pollute the water quality.

The water will became smelly and dirty.

And there will be lots of  bad germs in the river.

The germs can kill the fishes and other animals that live in the river.

Contaminated water is bad for human too.

It can cause Cholera, diarrhoea, food poisoning, some skin diseases and other health problems.

Dangerous chemicals were also swept to the river by the flood.

I knew that flood cause garbage but I did not know that it can caused garbage islands.

This is another disaster for China.

Water Pollution

United Nations says that water pollution is now a serious problem.

This is a disaster.

We may not have clean water to drink!

Water pollution is dirty water because people throw rubbish in the water.

Factories throw dirty water and sometimes toxic waste into the rivers and lakes.

The oil from the ships and boats also pollute the water.

Sometimes there are not much oxygen in polluted water.

So the fishes cannot breathe and die.

There are lots of kinds of germs inside the water that is polluted.

Water pollution caused Cholera, diarrhoea, food poisoning, some skin diseases and other health problems.

Animals, human and plants can die because of diseases caused  by polluted water.

Acid rains also pollute the rivers, lakes and seas.

Acid rains are caused by air pollution.

We must stop throwing rubbish in to the water.

We must invent boats and ships that won’t pollute the water.

We must treat the water that we use at homes and factories before sending them to the river.

We must clean the polluted rivers and lakes.

We can use protozoa to eat the bacteria in the polluted water.

I want people to stop polluting the water and stop polluting our earth.

Bacteria

Bacteria are tiny one-cell micro-organisms.

They can reproduce inside or outside their hosts.

Their hosts are people, animals and plants.

Like other germs, bacteria don’t make their own food.

There bad bacteria and good bacteria.

Bad bacteria can cause eye infection, cholera, tuberculosis (TB) and others.

A bacteria named Salmonella can caused something like a very bad food poisoning.

They are sometimes found in eggs and peanut butter.

There are very dangerous bacteria named super bugs.

Super-bugs are very difficult to be killed.

Super-bugs are usually found in hospital.

My grandfather was infected by super bugs when he was sick in UKMSC a few years ago.

The doctors said that I cannot visit him at that time because super bugs are even more dangerous to kids.

Good bacteria in our tummy keep us healthy by helping us to use nutrients from the food we eat.

We use good bacteria for making cheese and yoghurt.

Cheese and yoghurt are healthy food.

We also use good bacteria to make medicines and vaccines (vak-seens).

Medicines and vaccines help us to fight germs so that we can be healthy.

Uncle Azahar taught me that some bacteria can be bad bacteria if they are moved from their original site.
