Beautiful Scenery of Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands is not only about strawberries and flower gardens, the beautiful scenery and landscapes, and the greenery is something we cannot easily find in the city.

Unfortunately, the commercial farms have somehow spoilt the greenery of the highlands.

These photos are taken during my brief visit to Cameron Highlands two days ago.

Three people were killed during a mud flood and landslide in Cameron Highlands after heavy rain two landslides and a mudslide at several areas here.

R. Tunesh, 13 was swept away by floodwater at Kuala Terla while a 48 year old Indonesian, Anipa was buried in a landslide at his rented house in Bertam Valley and  a 66-year-old Nepalese, Md Yousuf Miya was also buried by a landslide at his home in Ulu Merah in Ringlet.

Tenaga Nasional Bhd had started slowly releasing water from the Sultan Abu Bakar Dam at 10.30pm yesterday to avoid the water from reaching critical levels.

3 Killed In Cameron Highlands Mud Flood

Ringlet in Cameron Highlands had been hit by a mud flood, killing three people including two foreigners.

The victims were Tan Tuck Choi, 51 years old,  Kesmat Iduan, 46 from Indonesia and a Bangladeshi, Md Jahangir Alam Fazlor Rahman who was around 30 years old.

According to NST, the body of Kesmat Iduan, 46 from Indonesia will be flown back to her homeland for funeral arrangements.

NST reported that the victim who died on the way to hospital has been identified as Tan Tuck Choi, 51.

One person, Jarwati from Indonesia is still missing.

Land clearing for farms has caused land erosion and heavy sedimentation in the Sultan Abu Bakar dam at Ringlet in Cameron Highlands.

There was a bad landslide at an orang asli settlement at Kampung Sungai Ruil near Brinchang, Cameron Highlands at 5.50pm yesterday after heavy rain.

Cameron Highlands is a highland resort in Malaysia famous for it’s strawberries.

This is a disaster.

Seven people were killed and two people were injured.

The Star reported that during the incident, the village was hit by an avalanche of logs, earth and debris which swept down a hill, burying the victims alive.

This is the second landslide to hit an orang asli settlement.

15 years ago, 40 villagers were killed in Pos Dipang in Perak.
