Malaysians Say No To Irshad Manji’s Program

(On May 23, 2012, the BFM 89.9 radio had cancelled airing Irshad Manji’s recorded interview-please click here for the news.)

Tomorrow Irshad Manji was supposed to give a talk at Monash University, Sunway Campus in Selangor entitled, Moral Courage: Creating Space: for Islam and Democracy from 1.00 to 2.00pm which is during the Friday Prayer.

Someone tweeted her:

Hi, selamat datang 🙂 Is this event catered to Muslim women only? Not gonna include Muslim men? Friday prayer is at about 1-2pm

She tweeted back:

All r welcome, sis. Quran does not prescribe how/when 2 pray. This is man-made, not God-given, ritual. Salaam from KL

They choose the specific time for the program so that the Muslim men cannot hold a protest and to disgrace Islam because she claimed that, “Quran does not prescribe how/when 2 pray.”

But the program had been cancelled because of the ‘pressure by Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS)’.

Borders Books also cancelled her program because of the security concerns.

Her publisher, ZI Publication is trying to find a public space in which Manji can discuss her book, Allah, Liberty & Love.

Do Irshad Manji and her publisher  really think that Malaysian Muslims really want to listen to her?

Malaysia is a Muslim country and the majority of the Muslims here are good Muslims who do not want to hear anything about her books because the books disgrace Islam.

So, only very few people welcome her here, those who are liberal like she is.

Rather than trying to reform Islam, she should make a change and learn be a good Muslim.

She is the one who should learn about Islam and not the one to teach other people the false Islam.

Alam Akademik is my grand mother’s book shop.

It is the oldest book shop in Kuala Terengganu.

Long long time ago the name of the shop was Keda Pok Loh Yunang.

Alam Akademik is near the Pasar Payang.

There are lots of books at the shop.

I like to help at the shop.

I helped to arrange the books at the shop.

Things I Did Last Week

The Monday last week was a holiday.

I woke up early in the morning to go to the park.

Abah took us to Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.

ali-scooter

We brought 4 scooters.

I rode my sister Anisah’s old scooter.

I am not very good at riding scooter.

Kaman is very good at riding scooter.

Then we had a nasi lemak picnic at the park.

Next we went to the MPH Warehouse sale, again.

It was the last day of the MPH Warehouse Sale.

Abah bought us more books.

The next day I went to The Curve, in Mutiara Damansara.

I ate Baskin- Robbins ice-cream.

It was very tasty.

But my 2 sisters were in school.

So they could not go to the Baskin -Robbins.

After that I went to IKEA.

On Friday I went to the Domino’s

MPH Warehouse Sale

Yesterday I went to the MPH warehouse sale in Petaling Jaya.

The place was very big.

There are books all around the place.

I went there to buy books.

We spent 4 hours over there.

I went there with Kaman, Mama and Abah.

My 2 other sisters did not go to MPH because they were at school.

I read 5 books over there.

I read 3 Bob the Builder, 1 Barney and 1 Thomas.

The best was Barney Easter Eggs.

Bob The Builder were too simple.

The words were too big.

I also drank a can of Yeo’s tea.

My father bought lots of books.

My father bought me some books too.

The best was ‘Diego and Click take a Pic‘.

It was about Diego’s camera named Click.

The book shaped like Click the camera.

I love it very much.

I enjoyed going to MPH sale because I love to read books.

Reading good books is a good practice.
