Meeting The MB of Neger Sembilan

A photo of Dato’ Seri Utama Mohamad and I after the program.

I am very honoured to be able to meet the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Hasan during a program at the Wisma UMNO Negeri Sembilan in Seremban recently.

The Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan singing an autograph for me.

As the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Dato’ Seri Utama is also the chairman of the Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Sembilan.

Malaysia is an Islamic country of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah from the Shafie school of thought or madhhab and Menteri Besars who are the chairmen of their respective state’s Majlis Agama Islam (the Islamic authority) are tasked to assist the Sultan in protecting the sanctity of Islam in their states.

In order to do so, they must have a very good understanding of the subject of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah which is sadly being ignored by some leaders.

And for this reason, I’m really impressed with Dato’ Seri Utama Mohamad’s understanding of Islam, and the brave actions that he took to protect the sanctity of Islam in Negeri Sembilan, even though those actions were considered as unpopular by certain people, for example having a strict guideline to monitor the teaching of Islam in the state, the transgender case and others.

Dato’ Seri Utama gives a clear message that Islam, as the religion of the state and the country, must be respected by everybody and is above other religions in Malaysia.

I hope that the people of Negeri Sembilan can understand how lucky they are to have a great Muslim leader.

Five Years of Blogging with WordPress

You registered on WordPress.com 5 years ago!

Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging!

  🙂 🙂 🙂

This was what I first wrote after my father gave his permission to start my own blog:

Welcome To My Blog

Hello, my name is Ahmad Ali Karim.

Welcome to my blog.

I love to write and I started to write stories when I was 3 years old.

Now I am 5 years old and I am very happy to start my own blog.

  🙂 🙂 🙂

I was very excited to receive this note from WordPress.com yesterday! I started this blog when I was five years old, five years ago and over the years I learn lots of things about writing, reporting and blogging.

One of my worst experience in blogging is when I cannot open my blog after it was hacked for a month.

I was so sad and scared and fear that I’ll loose my blog.

But thanks to the wonderful people at WordPress.com, at last my problem is solved.

And thank you very for my wonderful cyber friends who had sent me messages and tried to help me solve the problem.

Thank you for visiting my blog and my very special thanks to all my loyal readers who had become my special friends.

  🙂 🙂 🙂

I wrote simple posts about things that I like, my favourite fruits and what happens around me.

🙂 🙂 🙂

Uncle Awang Goneng is one of my favourite writers and inspired me to start my own blog.

This is the first time I met Anwar Ibrahim, the politician who inspired me to become a politician. I was a very big fan of Anwar at the time.  Anyway I lost my respect for him after Bersih 3.0.

🙂 🙂 🙂

Presentation1

I started attending lots of programs and discourses. At home I read the news to know about what is happening, not only in Malaysia but also in the other part of the world.

🙂 🙂 🙂

I first met Uncle Nasha at his daughter’s wedding celebration and asked him why he does not leave PAS.

Ramadhan’s Bedil In Kuala Terengganu

In Kuala Terengganu, one of the most special part of Ramadhan is the ‘bedil’.

How I wish there is ‘bedil’ in Kuala Lumpur too, to signal the time for Iftar and Imsak.

Below is a post that I wrote on September 28, 2010 about photographing the bedil in Kuala Terengganu.

Photographing The Bedils

I snapped this photo myself. I need to aim my camera to the right spot and snap at the right moment because if I was a few seconds late I’ll be snapping photos of smoke.

In Kuala Terengganu people break their fast after the sound of the ‘bedil’ in the Ramadhan.

There were bedil‘s on the 2nd day of Eid until 7th day of Eid too.

On the 5th day of Eid, my dad took me to Bukit Pak Apil in Kuala Terengganu to watch bedil’ shooting.

These are the bedil shooting base.

A policeman guided us to a safe location to watch the bedil‘.

The ‘bedil’ contractor and a policeman reached the ‘bedil’ shooting site.

The ‘bedil’ contractor preparing the ‘bedil’.

First we have to wait for the sound of ‘dup’.

Then we started snapping lots and lots and lots of photos as the bedilexploded in the sky into a gigantic umbrella of colourful lights right above our heads.

Then the umbrella turned into tiny sparkles of lights like colourful rain drops and faded into tiny umbrellas of smoke.

The bedil after the ‘dup’ sound

The bedil exploded…

…into tiny sparkles of lights like colourful rain drops…

…and faded into tiny umbrellas of smoke.

We went there again on the 6th and 7th day of Eid to snap more photos.

It was very, very hard to snap the photos because we have to aim at the right spot of where there the wind would blow the ‘bedil’.

We also need to snap at the right moment before the beautiful ‘bedil’ faded into umbrellas of smoke in the sky.

We also had to squat down fearing the loud sound made us jump and fall down the cliff.

We need to squat because we do not want to fall down the hill.

I snapped some beautiful ‘bedil’ photos and I am very proud of them 🙂

I snapped all the above photos by myself!

At the end of May 2013,  Jupiter, Venus and Mercury form a celestial triangle in the night sky.

The three planets shine together in a triangle formation low in the western sky in a planetary meet-up known as a conjunction.

We can even see them with naked eyes if the sky is clear and the place is not too bright.

This cosmic show is so special spectacular because it includes the three brightest planets visible in the May night sky.

Venus is the brightest of the trio, with Jupiter a close second and Mercury coming in third.

Flickr photographers snapped awesome photos of this very rare and special event.

Meeting YB Dato’ Zulkifli Noordin

I(R) was very excited to meet one of my favourite politician, Uncle Zulkifli Noordin(L)..
I(R) was very excited to meet one of my favourite politician, Uncle Zulkifli Noordin(L).

During SEMAIAN, my big sister Kashah and I spoke to one of our favourite politician, YB Dato’ Zulkifli Noordin, an Independent Member of Parliament for Kulim – Bandar Baharu, Kedah.

When he was still a PKR MP, Uncle Zul went against the opposition’s stands on “Allah” issue; just like what Uncle Nasharudin Mat Isa is doing now.

Even though I often saw Uncle Zul Noordin at other MUAFAKAT‘s programs, this is the first time I spoke to him.

I had the chance to talk one of my favourite politician, Uncle Dato' Zulkifli Noordin.
I was very excited to have the chance to speak to one of my favourite politician, Uncle Dato’ Zulkifli Noordin.

It was so wonderful talking to him for he is very nice and very friendly.

I was so excited meeting him that I forget all the questions that I wanted to ask him.

It was something like how I felt the day I met Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on May 23, 2010.

Well, at the time I was a big fan of Anwar but not anymore after I heard his March 18, 2010’s speech at the London School Of Economics on YouTube .

Uncle Zul said that when he was studying in New Zealand, Uncle Zul met a man who gave him advices that made him a better person.

And that day, Uncle Zul advised me to always tell the truth, no matter what and stand for the truth.

While we were talking, AntaraPos’s reporters came to interview him.

After the interview, I asked Uncle Zul for an autograph.

Uncle Zul(L) wrote wise words in my autograph while I(R) looked on.

Uncle Zul also gave me his business card and that made me feel so proud.

I wish I can talk to Uncle Zulkifli Noordin again and this time I’m going to ask him some questions.

I am so happy and thankful to be able speak to a lot of wonderful people.

Northern Australian Total Solar Eclipse – The Last Until 2015

There will be a solar eclipse in parts of northern Australia for a few minutes from shortly after dawn Wednesday (Nov. 14) local time in Australia or 3:35 p.m. EST (2035 GMT) Tuesday.

(Please click here for the photos of the total solar eclipse)

(Please click here for for the awesome video of the 2012 Australian Total Solar Eclipse)

This will be the world’s last solar eclipse until March 2015.

It could be seen in Northern Territory, state of Queensland and the Pacific Ocean.

If we are not in those places, we could still watch the rare phenomenon live from the Internet.

The Tourism Tropical North Queensland and the Slooh Space Camera will provide free webcasts of the event.

The broadcasts will begin at 1 p.m. EST (1800 GMT) and 2:30 p.m. EST (1930 GMT) on Tuesday, respectively.

SPACE.com reported that:

The total eclipse of the sun will begin over the Arnhem Land region of the Northern Territory, where the moon’s shadow will touch down at 3:35 p.m. EST (2035 GMT). [Video: Watch Path of Nov. 13-14 Total Solar Eclipse]

Then the eclipse path moves southeast across the Gulf of Carpentaria to Queensland, darkening the skies over towns such as Mitchell River and Palmerville before reaching the coastal city of Cairns at 3:39 p.m. EST (2039 GMT).

Shortly after sunrise, skywatchers in Cairns will witness a total solar eclipse lasting two minutes.

From Cairns, the moon’s shadow will cruise out into the vast Pacific Ocean, with the total eclipsefinally petering out 610 miles (980 kilometers) west-northwest of Santiago, Chile, at 6:48 p.m. EST (2348 GMT).

The eclipse’s path of totality is about 108 miles (174 km) wide and covers 9,000 miles (14,500 km) over a three-hour period.

The next total solar eclipse occurs in March 2015 and will be visible from some areas in the North Atlantic region, such as Norway’s Svalbard Islands.

However, a so-called “hybrid” eclipse — which shifts between total and annular at different points on the globe — will come to parts of the Atlantic and central Africa in November 2013.

A Visit To The IKIM.fm Studio

On Monday morning October 29, 2012, I went to the IKIM office.

I was standing at one of the corridors connecting the IKIM offices.

I went there because my father was going to be interviewed on IKIM.fm’s Warna Pagi, talking about the Seminar Dakwah Nasional.

While waiting, I was introduced to Aunty Siti and Uncle Suffian.

At the IKIM.fm radio station. From left is Uncle Suffian (in front of him is me), Kashah, Kafah and Aunty Siti.

I was given a chance to be in the studio where they recorded the radio program.

And luckily, I was invited to stay in the studio until the end of the live-recording of the interview.

Aunty Siti and  Uncle Suffian were very nice and friendly and I really enjoyed meeting them.

I hope to be able to go there again and get interviewed on one of IKIM.fm’s programs like my father :)

A Visit To The TV AlHijrah Studio

On Saturday, October 13, 2012, I went to the TV AlHijrah headquarters at the Pusat Islam Complex, Kuala Lumpur.

I went there because my father was going to be on air in the morning program named, Assalamualaikum.

Kashah (L) and I at the TV AlHijrah office.

My father on air during ‘Assalamualaikum’ on TV AlHijrah.

While waiting for my father’s and Pak Cik Ismail Mina’s turn to be on air, we met Aunty Farah Adeeba.

We were talking with Aunty Farah (L). In the middle is a lady from Kementerian Kesihatan who was on air before my father.

I was given a chance to have a look at the studio where they recorded the program.

But I could only be there for a short while since the program was aired life.
