Chairs, A Poem By Ahmad Ali Karim

16 12 2015

Chairs, chairs,
Chairs everywhere,
In many colours,
Here and there.

Red, green,
Yellow and blue,
They also come,
With cushions too.

Tall, short,
Soft and rough,
My favourite is,
The ones that fluff.

Typhoon Melor or locally known as Typhoon Nona was the equivalent of a Category 4 hurricane as it moved into the Philippines on Monday.

At least 3 people were killed, one person died of hypothermia while two others drowned in floods as the typhoon carved through the central Philippines on Tuesday bringing heavy rain and strong winds that left millions without electricity in at least seven provinces.

Channel News Asia reported that Typhoon Melor whipped the vast Bicol peninsula, with a population of 5.4 million people, overnight before slamming into the Romblon islands on Tuesday morning.

Bad weather forced the cancellation of 16 domestic flights on Tuesday, adding to the 56 flights cancelled on Monday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

Tin roofs and branches littered the streets of the city of Legazpi, which was battered by strong winds.

Gusts had weakened somewhat by Tuesday morning but were still recorded at 170 kilometres (106 miles) per hour from 185 kilometres per hour on Monday.

Rainfall amounts could top 300 mm (12 inches) in the central Philippines, especially across the higher terrain could cause life-threatening flooding and mudslides.

Kenapa Kita Tidak Boleh Bentengi Akidah Umat Islam?

15 12 2015

(Karim’s Blog) – Kenapa MUSUH-MUSUH ISLAM sangat benci apabila kita usaha bentengi akidah Umat Islam?

PELAMPAU EVANGELIS KRISTIAN bebas berkeliaran memurtadkan orang-orang Islam – TETAPI apabila kita berusaha mendedahkan AGENDA JAHAT TIPU HELAH mereka, mereka mula membuat bising.

Photos Of London’s Tube In 1950s And 1960s

Last week saw the London Underground break the record for its busiest day ever, ferrying almost five million passengers across the network, and travellers took to social media to vent their frustration at the cramped conditions. These pictures from the 1950s and 60s show the tube as it was in the days before packed commuter crushes. It wasn’t all rosy though – strikes still plagued rail users, and plenty of people would have been unhappy about that fact that smoking was permitted. (Yahoo News).

One lane on the main highway connecting Washington and Oregon was reopened Thursday evening after it was closed due to a major landslide.

The landslide which covered Highway 30 just south of the St. Johns Bridge in Portland was caused by heavy rains brought by a major Northwest storm.

The storms have caused rivers to burst their banks and roads to close.

At least two people were killed in the Pacific Northwest due to the storm.

The National Weather Service also was checking reports of a possible tornado touching down in southwest Washington on Thursday.

Beyond Belief – Jaw-Dropping ‘Golden Age of Madison Avenue’ Advertisements

Using babies to sell cigarettes was surprisingly common in the 1950s. Malboro ran an entire campaign using ‘talking babies’, aiming to sell smoking as a suitable family-friendly activity. (Malboro 1953)

Offensive, misleading, racist, sexist and dishonest, countless adverts created in the so-called ‘Golden Age of Madison Avenue’ are inconceivable to modern eyes. With no industry body to regulate them the much-revered ‘Ad Men’ were free to go to any lengths to sell their clients’ products – and did so. From using babies to peddle cigarettes to telling women that their husbands would leave them if they didn’t but certain items, nothing was off limits. Founder of global advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi, Charles Saatchi has gathered more than 100 of the most shocking campaigns in his latest book Beyond Belief, showing some jaw-dropping examples of non-PC salesmanship.  – Yahoo News.
