Malaysia health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah warned the people to not touch carrot weeds or parthenium hysterophorus for it can cause skin rash, skin peeling, itching of the skin, swelling of the eyes, allergic rhinitis and disruption to the respiratory system, like cold and asthma especially to children and elderly people.

In Malaysia the weed is known as rumpai miang Mexico and is found in Perak, Selangor, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan,  Johor and Melaka.

It is said that the  pollen from the weed contained chemicals known as parthenin, hymenin and ambrosin which could be harmful to health

Anyone who is exposed to the weed and had the allergy symptoms such as skin rash, skin peeling, itching of the skin, swelling of the eyes, allergic rhinitis and disruption to the respiratory system, like cold and asthma is advised to seek immediate treatment.

Anyway, not everybody who is exposed to the weed may get allergic reaction.
