Visiting Makam Tok Pelam

After my great grand father’s burial at Pekuburan Tok Pelam, we passed the Tok Pelam Tomb or Makam Tok Pelam.

I am standing in front of the Makam Tok Pelam.

I was very lucky to be able to go inside the Makam Tok Pelam.

To go inside the tomb, we need a special permission.

There are two doors to enter the tomb.

One of the entrance.

I met Haji Harun Embong, the care taker who is a relative of Tok Pelam.

Haji Harun is Jiddah’s(my grandmother) 3rd cousin.

He also was my father’s and my uncle Ami Ma’s teacher a long time ago.

Tok Pelam is an ulama’ or a religious scholar.

His real name is Syeikh Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.

Tok Pelam used to live in Hadramaut before he moved to Pattani in Thailand.

In 1785, he went to Terengganu and live at Kampung Pelam, Hulu Terengganu.

He soon moved to Kampung Ladang Titian until he died in 1819.

The description about Tok Pelam.

I think Syeikh Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz was given the title ‘Tok Pelam’ because he used to live and teach in Kampung Pelam, Hulu Terengganu.

Uncle Hulaimi or Awang Goneng wrote about Makam Tok Pelam in his book, ‘Growing Up In Trengganu’, page 56 – ‘Eggs In A Net’.
