Bersih 3.0 – As Peaceful As Promised?

28 04 2012

Demonstrators thew all kinds of things towards a moving police car and attacking the car. The photo shows demonstrators kicking the car and someone climbed onto the car kicking the windscreen. They then hit the driver and a reporter who tried to help the bleeding policeman. Are they peaceful people?

Today there was a demonstration called Bersih 3.0 in Kuala Lumpur.

(Please click here for more photos and videos of Bersih 3.0).

The organizers said that it was a peaceful demonstration but it was not.

It was very bad, road had to be closed and the demonstrators even overturned a police car.

This is a disaster.

Big demonstrations should not been held in open places in the city.

Why big street demonstrations are bad?

  • It can turn into riot and cause a very big war in the country.

  • People over there including the organisers could get hurt.

  • Scare the tourists and investors.

  • Shop has to be closed.

If you really need to make a big demonstration:

  1. Ask permission from the police.

  2. Follow the police’s instructions.

  3. Do it in a big building such as a stadium like Himpunan Sejuta Umat because it will be much easier to control the crowd and the organisers won’t be disturbing other people.

  4. The organiser must control the crowd and do it peacefully.

Do we want these to happen in Malaysia?

HIMPUN v.s. Bersih: Does PAS Really Support Islam? « Aiman Amani’s Weblog

[…] But recent events made me doubt my strong belief and trust in PAS and PKR. Was it fair for PAS to falsely claimed that Himpunan Sejuta Umat or HIMPUN (an event organised by Muslim NGOs calling the Muslims to strengthen their faith and to fight against apostasy) as an UMNO’s political agenda while giving full-support towards Bersih, a ‘demonstration turned riot’ led by an LGBT fighter asking for fair and clean electio… […]

Don’t make irresponsible allegations. Malaysians are a peaceful lot. If only the police did their job to stop the few unruly people, instead of joining the trouble-makers and becoming more violent.

Dear Rakyat malaysia,
Thank you for writing. Yes, Malaysians are a peaceful lot; that is why it is very sad to see unruly adults, acting violently; there is no fool like an old fool. Adults should behave themselves and show good examples to kids like me even when they are angry. Crime does not pay. The Bersih organisers should stop them from being wild and not leave them like that and let the police to do the hard job. Listen to what Mr Benji Lim said: If they care for their supporters, they will be there for them when they were in danger. They should know that not everyone is good and can behave themselves. If the police are bad, they should not provoke the police and do bad things too; two wrongs don’t make a right.
