On Sunday August 28, 2011, the center of Hurricane Irene passed over the Central Park in New York City at midmorning with the storm packing 65 mph winds.
Heavy rains flooded some areas in New York City.
At least 26 people were killed in the US East Coast so far because of the hurricane.
The hurricane also caused some tornado.
Some areas in the U.S. East Coast are still flooded.



























Hurricane Irene Kills 8, Aims For New York-Photos

On Saturday August 27, 2011, Hurricane Irene was a deadly category one storm when it made landfall at 8:00 am (1200 GMT) at Cape Lookout, North Carolina, near a chain of barrier islands.
At least eight people were killed so far.

Irene knocked out power supplies for some 900,000 people, triggered the cancellation of more than 8,000 flights, and forced nearly two million people to evacuate.

Hurricane Irene is still a dangerous Category 1 as storm nears North Carolina.
Hurricane warnings were issued from North Carolina to New York.

Hurricane Irene Pounds The Bahamas – Photos

As of 8 a.m. EDT Thursday, the Category 3 Hurricane Irene was centered about 65 miles (105 kilometers) east-northeast of Nassau in the Bahamas.
Early Thursday, the storm was thrashing the Bahamas with widespread damage reported on at least two southern islands, the Acklins and Crooked islands >>>please click here<<<.
Now the monstrous Hurricane Irene is heading to the US East Coast Seaboard threatening 65 million people along a shore-hugging path from North Carolina to New England.






Hurricane Irene Hit Turks, Caicos Islands, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, And Bahamas-Photos

Irene barreled through the Turks and Caicos Islands late Tuesday as a Category 1 hurricane, blowing off some roofs, flooding roads and downing power lines.
In Puerto Rico, Irene caused heavy flooding, landslides and Gov. Luis Fortuno said on Wednesday that 765 people remain in shelters, two days after he declared a state of emergency.
In the Dominican Republic, flooding, rising rivers and mudslides have prompted the government to evacuate nearly 38,000 people.
In Bahamas, Capt. Stephen Russell tells The Associated Press that the Category 3 hurricane had at least caused 90 percent of the homes in the settlements on Acklins and Crooked islands severely damaged or destroyed >>> please click here for updated photos <<<.
Irene was expected to become a Category 4 hurricane by Thursday as it passes over the northwestern Bahamas en route to the eastern U.S. coast, said the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida.

On Wednesday Steve Jobs resigned as the Apple CEO.
The news made the company’s share went down.
Tim Cook is now the new Apple CEO.
Steve Jobs started Apple Computer with a high school friend in a Silicon Valley garage in 1976.
He invented many interesting technology gadgets like personal computer, iPod, iPhone and iPad >>>please click here<<<.
Steve Jobs is not only a good inventor but he is also a good businessman.
Apple Inc. faced bad business without him years ago.
He came back to Apple Inc. and invented new technology gadgets that helped the company to be successful again.
I think that Steve Jobs is a very,very,very smart man.
It must be a sad news for Apple.
Steve Jobs must be very sad too…
I hope that he’ll get well soon and be able to invent more interesting gadgets.
US East Coast Shook By Strongest Earth Quake In 67 years

US East Coast was hit by a 5.8-magnitude earth quake at 1:51 p.m. Eastern Time, Tuesday.
The epicenter was 5 miles (8 kilometers) from Mineral, Virginia, and 84 miles (135 kilometers) away from Washington, D.C.
People ran out of their houses, tall buildings and offices.
Parts of the White House, Capitol and Pentagon were evacuated.
Some people did not know that was an earth quake and thought that it was an explosion, a bomb or a terrorist attack on their buildings.
The quake was felt as far north as Toronto, as far west as Indiana and Kentucky and as far south as Atlanta and Savannah, Ga.

High wire artist Freddy Nock from Switzerland is trying to to set a new world record by doing seven summits in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in seven days.
His “7 records within 7 days” is part of a UNESCO charity event.
I think that what he is doing is very dangerous.

Photos Of August 18, 2011 Dust Storm Around Phoenix, Arizona
A giant wall of dust hit Metropolitan Phoenix for the third time within the last six weeks.
The dust storm, known as a haboob, was 1,000 feet high and traveled at least 50 miles into metro Phoenix and neighboring Pinal County on Thursday evening.
Weather experts said such huge dust storms only happen in Arizona, Africa’s Sahara desert and parts of the Middle East.
Flights were delayed and some people were without electricity because of the dust storm.
Homes were damaged, roofs were torn off businesses, trees landed on top of homes and a junior high school has part of its roof missing in the city of Eloy, in Pinal County.
Pollution levels was very high during dust storms and caused breathing problems for people with asthma and other similar conditions.
