Happy Merdeka Day/ Happy Independence Day

Happy Merdeka Day ❗

It means it is Malaysia’s Independence Day.

Malaysia was independence from British on 31\8\57.

So, this year is our 53rd ‘Merdaka Day’ (Independence Day).

The Malaysian Flag (Jalur Gemilang)

The ‘Father of Independence’ or ‘Bapa Kemerdekaan’ is YM Tengku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj.

Tengku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj is the first Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Now the Prime Minister is Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak

People in Malaysia put the Malaysian flag at their houses.

I put my Malaysian flag at my house too.

I wonder what is the Argentinian Independence Day called ❓

Indonesian Volcano Erupts-Pictures

On Sunday, Mount Sinabung on the north of Sumatra island erupted; and on Monday it erupted again.

The volcano was inactive for four centuries or four hundred years; since 1600.

It shot ash 2 km or 1.5 miles into the air.

The eruption triggered the highest red volcano alert.

About 21,000 people left their houses because it is very dangerous to be near a volcano if it erupts.

Hot lava and burning rocks from the volcano can burn houses, trees and everything on its way down the volcano.

Volcanic ash covered trees, plants, houses and everything in the area.

People leaving the area were also covered by ash.

Some flight to Medan and Sibolga were delayed.

Indonesia in on the Pacific Ring Of Fire.

In April, 2010 the volcanic ash from Eyjafilljallajokull glacier in Iceland closed airspace and airports all over Europe and thousands and thousands of passengers were stranded all over the world.

I wonder if Malaysian airspace and airport will be closed if the volcanic ash problems get worse …

A Penang Prawn Noodle Lunch

I went to Penang last May.

Over there, I had ‘Penang Prawn Noodle’ for lunch.

In Malay, ‘Penang Prawn Noodle’ is ‘Mee Udang Pulau Pinang.

We had our lunch at a restaurant in Sungai Dua, Penang.

There is a big paddy field across the restaurant.

When I reached there it was very hot.

Then it became cooler because it was raining.

I think the noodle was too hot but my parents said it was tasty 🙂

There were lots of prawns in the noodle.

My sisters ate fried kuey teow.

My sisters said the fried kuey teow was very delicious.

We drank coldLai Chee Kang‘; a drink with ice, jelly and lots of other things.

I think the food at the restaurant was delicious but too hot and the place is very hot if it is not raining.

A Castle In Kuala Lumpur

A few weeks ago, my family and I went to a castle.

The castle is not as tall as the castles in Europe.

It’s name is Al-Rawsha.

Anyway, it is not a real castle; it’s actually a restaurant

The restaurant is at Jalan Kampung Pandan.

From the outside it looks like a real castle.

We went there to buy food for iftar.

The restaurant sells Middle Eastern cuisines.

We bought ‘Chicken Mandy’ and ‘Lamb Mandy‘.

There are yoghurt, salsa and rice together with the ‘Chicken and Lamb Mandy‘.

They are so delicious!

I wonder if there is any more restaurants that looks like a castle 🙂

The Flooding In Pakistan Reached Thatta

Pakistani villagers drag their belonging through floodwater in Sarjani near Thatta, in southern Pakistan on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. Pakistan will have to demonstrate it can spend relief funds transparently and well if it wants more help in rebuilding after its massive floods, the U.S. aid chief said, as officials in the northwest vowed Wednesday to stop banned Islamist groups from helping victims. THATTA, Pakistan – Floodwaters made another break Saturday in the levees protecting the southern city of Thatta, as thousands of residents fled for high ground and left the city nearly empty – AP.

This is another disaster for Pakistan.

Thatta is near Karachi, in southern Pakistan.

The terrible flood in Pakistan started about a month ago in the northern part of Pakistan.

Then the flood moved to the south.

The flood destroyed lots of buildings, roads, bridges, vehicles, plants, trees and others.

Lots of the flood victims are facing health problems.

I am sad for the people of Pakistan.

I hope more people will help the victims.

9 Killed On Hijacked Tourist Bus In Manila

On August 23, 2010, a man hijacked a tourist bus in Manila.

The tourist are from Hong Kong.

He was a policeman but he was sacked.

He hijacked the bus because he want to be a policeman again.

At first he let go nine hostages.

Then he got angry and started shooting.

The police tried to save the hostages.

He was killed by the police.

I wonder why people need to hijack and killed hostages when they are angry.

It is not a good way to get what you want.

Hijacking is a disaster; just like a war.

We should not use violence because violence can destroy our Earth.

Solat Tarawih

Now is Ramadan; the Muslim’s holy month.

During Ramadan we fast, perform the solat Tarawih and read the Quran.

We perform the solat Tarawih only in Ramadan.

When we do the solat Tarawih, we will get lots of extra rewards from Allah.

But first we need to pray our daily solats:

  1. Subuh 2 raka’ats

  2. Zohor 4 raka’ats

  3. Asar 4 raka’ats

  4. Maghrib 3 raka’ats

  5. Isyak 4 raka’ats

I think it’s easier to mark the raka’ats on a piece of paper in case we forget how many raka’ats we had prayed.

When I  perform the solat Tarawih, I pray 20 raka’ats.

That means I pray ten times because each of the prayer has 2 raka’ats.

People usually pray the solat Tarawih 8 raka’ats or 20 raka’ats.

After the solat Tarawih, I first do the solat Witir 2 raka’ats.

After that I solat Witir 1 raka’at.

The total raka’ats in solat Tarawih is in even numbers but the raka’ats of solat Witir must be in odd numbers.

On Monday a Boeing 737 plane crash landed in San Andres Island, Colombia.

1 person died and 6 were seriously injured.

The plane crashed in a thunderstorm at 1:49 am.

It slided on the runway and broke apart.

The report says that the pilot’s name is Wilson Gutierrez.

He is a great pilot because he can stop the plane from hitting the airport.

If the plane hit the airport, more people will be killed.

It will then be a bigger disaster.

People don’t know if the aeroplane was hit by a lightning or a gust of wind.

And firefighters had stopped the beginning of fire on a wing.

It is the opposite when everybody in the Pakistani plane crash were killed.
