Scottish Flights Cancelled Due To Icelandic Ash Cloud ; Will More European Airspace Be Closed?

Ash from an Icelandic volcano, the Grimsvotn volcano under the Vatnajokull glacier forced the cancellation of dozens of flights to and from Scotland on Tuesday.

Last year, ash from another Icelandic volcano caused 100,000 flights to be canceled, stranding 10 million passengers and costing the industry an estimated $1.7 billion in lost revenue.

Norway’s airport operator said the ash cloud would cause some flight restrictions on its west coast on Tuesday and Denmark said a small area of its airspace would be closed.

Below are some of the flights affected as reported by REUTERS:

1.    Ryanair cancelled 36 flights between Scotland and cities across Europe, was told by the Irish Aviation Authority not to operate flights to Scottish airports until at least 1 p.m. (8 a.m. EDT).

 2.   British Airways said it would not operate any flights between London and Scotland on Tuesday that arrived in Scotland before 8 a.m. EDT or departed from Scotland before that time.

 3.   Flybe, EasyJet and Aer Lingus all said they were cancelling some of their flights to and from Scotland on Tuesday.

 4.    KLM, part of Air France-KLM canceled 16 flights to and from four British cities scheduled for Tuesday. Fights to and from Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle would be canceled on Tuesday morning, it said.

Europe’s air traffic control organization said that if the volcanic emissions continued at the same rate, the cloud could reach western French and northern Spanish airspace on Thursday.

Aftermath Of Japan’s Earthquake And Tsunami In Photos

Reports said that more than 10,000 people died after a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and a huge tsunami hit Japan on March 11, 2011.

I am very sad to see the aftermath photos of the disaster.

It must be very hard for the victims.

Most of them lost almost everything including their families and friends.

I hope they will be strong and may tomorrow be a better day for all of us.

And we should learn a lesson from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant Disaster.

So we should not be greedy and we should build more huge wind turbines and wind farms to produce electricity.

Do not destroy our Earth and Go Green.

Violent Demonstrations In Egypt – Photos

Egyptians are angry of the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

So they held demonstrations.

Demonstrations is a way to fight for something important.

But they are supposed to stop doing bad things and violence during the demonstrations because it can destroy our world.

Violence can turn into a war.

This is a disaster.

It is like what happened in Bangkok.

People were killed and injured; buildings, cars and plants were destroyed.

They should have a peaceful demonstration to say what they wanted.

And the government should listen to the people and discuss what can be done for them.

We have to take care of our Earth and lets go green.

35 Killed In Deadly Bomb Blast At Moscow Airport-Photos

At least 35 people were killed in a suicide bombing at the Domodedovo Airport, Moscow, Monday afternoon.

Domodedovo Airport is Moscow’s busiest airport.

Among them were eight foreign citizens, two were Britons and one person each from German, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Ukraine.

110 people were injured.

So far no claim of responsibility has been made.

This is a disaster.

Indonesian Tsunami And Volcano-Updated

This is an update to the double disaster in Indonesia.

Late Monday, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Sumatra caused a killer tsunami.

At least 113 people were killed and more than 500 people were missing.

The tsunami hit remote islands that takes about 12 hours boat trip from Padang.

Those islands are popular surfing spots.

10 villages were swept away by waves as high as 3 meters (10 feet).

On Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the tsunami, Mount Merapi in central Java erupted.

At least 25 people were killed in this disaster.

Government volcanologist Surono told AFP that they heard 3 explosions around 6 pm (1100 GMT) spewing volcanic material as high as 1.5 kilometres (one mile) and sending heat clouds down the slopes.

Thousands of people were in makeshift emergency shelters late Tuesday.

The volcano is on the highest alert level.

Mount Merapi is Indonesian most active volcano.

Scientists have warned that pressure building beneath Merapi’s lava dome could trigger its most powerful explosion in years.

If that really happens, it will cause a great disaster.

Terrible Flood In Pakistan Is Getting Worse-Pictures

The terrible flood in Pakistan is getting worse.

More than 1500 people were killed and over 3.2 million people effected by the flood.

Now Punjab is badly hit by the flood.

Water was so high, only treetops and uppermost floors of some buildings were visible in large tracts of Kot Addu and the nearby area of Layyah in the south of the province.

The flood is spreading to other areas in Pakistan too.

And more heavy rains are expected in the next few days.

More rain can cause more flood.

And there are lots of bad germs in the dirty flood water.

The flood victims are facing lots of waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea and skin problems.

A lot of the flood victims don’t have clean water, enough food and medicine to fight the diseases.

More people will die especially the children.

The United Nations said that this is a terrible humanitarian disaster.

I think we should help the flood victims because the situation will get even worse if  we do not help them.
