List Of Airspace Closed In Europe

The eruption of the volcano near the Eyjafilljallajokull glacier in Iceland send volcanic ash to Europe airspace.

This is a disaster.

Lots of countries in Europe close their airspace because it is too dangerous.

If the volcanic ash get into the plane’s engines, the engines can shut down by themselves.

Britain
Closed until at 7 p.m. BST Friday
Denmark
Closed until 2 a.m. CET Saturday

All airspace closed
France
Some flights landing in Paris, no takeoffs
Germany
Nine airports closed including Frankfurt and Berlin
Finland

Airspace closed until 3 p.m. (8 a.m. ET) Saturday
Lithuania
Airspace closed until further notice
Netherlands
From 7 p.m. CET Thursday
Norway
Parts of the airspace open Friday
Poland
Until 6 p.m. CET, except Krakow
Sweden
To open limited airspace in north from 3 p.m CET Friday
